Around how long does it take for the County to record a new deed? It was mailed on Sept. 16 and I'm checking the website each day but nothing yet. Our Starwood SDO purchase included the sellers 2011 use year so we are anxious to close on this property.

This varies all over the country. Many counties now have electronic filing and your filed document appears of record shortly after it is received. Some counties are still virtually manual and it could take months. I would suggest calling the county clerk's office where the document was sent and ask how long it normally takes to get a document recorded. Hopefully you sent it overnight mail or certified/Return receipt so you can confirm that the county received it. Many also require you to include a stamped self-addressed envelope for them to return the original document to you.

You can check the County Recorder's Office website - see the info. at the top of the Starwood Forum in the Starwood Owner Resources sticky.

Once the county has recorded it - you can email it or FAX it to Starwood - see details in the sticky.

Since this is a Starwood question, I'm going to move it to the Starwood forum.

I am in the exact same situation with SDO (but my documents were only sent yesterday). Could you please update this thread when you get confirmation? Thanks!

I also had an SDO go through last month. My deed was recorded and faxed to SVN on 9/7 and it showed up in my SVN account on 9/20. It was my understanding that they were running a little behind schedule, because someone had been on vacation.

How long did it take for it to be processed by the County? Do you know how long it sat with them?

Thanks.

Deed recording

FYI
Last week I called the Orange County Comptroller's office (Orlando) because I was riding herd on a closing that seemed never-ending. They said if someone brings in the deed in person, they record it that day. It shows up online immediately when it's recorded. If someone mails it in, it could take up to a week for them to receive it and record it, but they didn't have a backlog at this time.

update

Now I know why it is taking so long for them to record the new deed. I just spoke to somebody at the County Recorders Office and they have no record of receiving it. Now back to Sumday Vacations to find out what happen.

It was electronically filed by Timeshare Closing Services, Inc. I just signed the paper work electronically and paid on 9/2 (Friday) and I had a copy of the deed by 9/7 (Wednesday).

Another question, since moments ago I just rec'd an email copy of the registered Deed. :D

Looking at the Starwood Owner Resources where it says:

"Title Dept.
You can email or FAX your new (recorded) deed to Starwood yourself-
Jose Pagan, Starwood Vacation Ownership, Title Coordinator
jose.pagan@starwoodvo.com.
Phone 1-800-729-8246 ext. 62291
Fax 1-407-418-7211
Email to send deeds to - 00SVO-TitleChanges@starwoodvo.com "

I see there are two email addresses. One for Jose Pagan, and one generic 00SVO mailbox. Are those email addresses for different purposes, or can I just send to Jose Pagan? Is this contact information current to the best of your knowledge?

At what point will I know (for sure) that I have a 2011 week that can be deposited?

Yes, that info. is correct.

You will know for sure when you call Starwood Owner Services and they tell you that they can see your ownership in the computer system.

So should I just send to Jose then? Just needed some clarification on which email address is the one I should send to.

Thanks.

Today, we received in the mail our new deed from the recorder for a SDO purchase. The seller also mailed a copy to Starwoods with the $25 transfer fee. How long will it take for Starwoods to tell us "we are good to go"? Do they email us or mail me an account number? This purchase included a 2011 week so we are anxious to deposit it!

TIA

Starwood will send you a welcome letter - they seem to be slow to send them out.

You can call Owner Services and get your number sooner - but I would expect it to take at least a week or 2 for them to get it recorded.

Did you see the info. in Starwood Owner Resources at the top of the page about how to contact the title Dept. yourself?

If the resorts are voluntary resorts (may be the same answer for mandatory), do the weeks come with an II membership or should an II account be opened up for depositing?

At voluntary resorts, you have to open your own II Acct., but you have to have your Starwood Acct. info. first.

At mandatory resorts, you get an SVN II Acct.

Jose at Starwood title is very helpful, once it his hit his desk. My real pet peeve is getting it that far. I bought 3 Harborside Atlantis weeks in the secondary market 10 1/2 months ago. As of today only ONE has been recorded in the Bahamas. I'm really PO'd because one of them is week 51 2011, which I had planned on renting. Now that I was not able to, I cant deposit the week with II, because its not yet 'mine' even though it's been paid for for nearly a year (and I paid the 2011 dues even though it had not transferred). I own 4 other starwood weeks In CO and FL and it was NEVER this long to get them transferred.
