How do you use Interval to get a resort with MVC points?

I see where people get into a resort or resort area through trading into Interval.

How does that work? What is the process?

You use a certain number of DPs to make a Interval deposit. I think you have to call (I did).

Except beginning 1/1/23 you can no longer use points to exchange into Vistana/Sheraton/Westin Since they are Abound.

You use a certain number of DPs to make a Interval deposit. I think you have to call (I did).,

You can exchange points directly (instant exchange or request) on II using your points- Abound resorts are excluded.
Points are not deposited, they are yours until the exchange is confirmed.

Option 2 is to have II convert your chosen # of points into a week and deposit that into II. Extends expiration date- deposit is good for 2 years. Abound still excluded.
Your points are gone once converted to the week.

I read your post about a ski week and you could consider placing a request on II using your points to non Abound resorts. You will pay the exchange fee upfront but it will be refunded if you don’t match.
I don’t know how placing the II request might affect the points you have as you attempt to book an MVC directly- my understanding is II & MVC/Abound computers are not connected and if a match is made then II needs to confirm the points are available so there shouldn’t be a problem.

I’ll also add I have had great luck with the MVC chat. They seem to be the more knowledgeable than the phone reps and also go find me the answers I need.

I don’t have any information on that, but if it still says pending that’s a good sign.
Do you have other brands on that request?

I suspect it simply won't find a match and sit there in a pending status.

Since you were able to place the request and it's there already, I would guess you would be grandfathered and retain your options. I wouldn't make changes though as you may lose those choices. That might be a good question to ask Mark about.

That’s a tough one.
If you search manually do you see the Vistana brands?
If you can’t exchange into the brand anymore it’s a waste just letting the request sit, but it you are indeed “grandfathered” best to let it ride.
My thinking was your request would be cancelled if it wasn’t possible- who knows.
