Use a phone that you've dropped in a parking lot, that has a few cracks and scratches, but still works fine. ;)

Our DD just ordered this after seeing her neighbour use one while out on their boat. He dropped one phone in the lake while taking a photo and didn't want to loose the replacement.

Might be useful to those who want to walk around with their phone in their hand.

Yes. Right. A lanyard. We’ve got lanyards at home and probably will just hook them onto the cell phone wallet case. We don’t need a special cell phone one because we like our whole phone covered - the screen, etc.

I don’t give it a thought. I walk around with it in my hand and it’s actually in a wallet case with all my credit cards and money.

But people in Italy told me this is not a good idea there. So we are using a money belt due to pick pockets and I was wondering when you are on vacation sightseeing usually you have the phone in your hand to take photos so you are walking around with it like that.

Isn't the chance of getting it stolen in your hometown equal to it getting stolen in Italy?

I doubt it. I live in the lakes region of New Hampshire. I don’t live in a big city known for pick pockets.

We have low crime here. Small rural New England towns, etc. Heck- I even leave my phone in my beach bag while I’m in the water floating- usually for a couple of hours.

Honestly…. I spend a ton of time in Chicago and I’m on total high alert there compared to Europe. Not even a close comparison.

^^THIS

Again, it's just common sense. Be aware of your surroundings, keep your hands on your property, and you'll be fine.

@WinniWoman You indicated to walk around with your cell phone in some kind of a wallet kept in your hand. That’s your typical MO.

If you have your phone in your hands you’re fine.

Pick pocketers are doing slight of hands to reach into an open bag , pant pocket etc. That’s not what you intend on doing with your phone.

In major urban areas in the US your phone might be taken by sheer force with a threat or a gun. That’s not going to happen on a sight seeing trip in Italy.
