Thank you so much. Also I hope Emily is right about turning "newer every day." I'm waiting for that!If you don’t care about a credit hit (which may not occur), just stop paying. Tell Marriott they can have it back. I don’t know if they have a buyback program, with or without a cost to you. My sympathies. It is okay to just turn around and walk away if M won’t play ball.
Also, many people give their timeshares away, because most have little or no value, certainly not what you paid for it.
Yes, you need to reach out to owner exit services. I'm assuming you and your spouse owned the week as joint tenants, thus, the ownership would legally pass to you without any deed modification. When an owner has passed, and the surviving spouse doesn't want to continue the ownership, and you are not interested in selling (well, you may be interested in selling but there may not be any takers), the most efficient option is for the owner to reach out to Exit Services at 866-682-4547, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Eastern Time. There seem to be no buyers .
What makes you think no buyers. List it for a dirt cheap price. You will get a buyer. The buyer will likely end up getting it or Marriott end up taking it by ROFR.My husband passed away last year.
