How do I avoid getting ROFRed buying resale at SDO?

I want to pick up another couple 2BRs at SDO. I like the resort and I've generally had success renting the units I don't use. It's been several years since I bought any resales at SDO. I've heard the Vistana/Mariott is much more aggressive about exercising ROFR now after the merger. Does anyone have any advice or strategies on how to get past an SDO ROFR successfully? TIA.

Won't be an issue, no ROFR in the docs. I actually gave away an EOY 2br at sdo a few years ago and it went through without issue for the "buyer."

Thanks for the replies. I guess that explains why there are no entries for SDO at rofr.net! I got nervous when I read another thread talking about ROFR for voluntary resales, but I see now that doesn't apply to SDO.

@bizaro86 Too bad I didn't know about your unit up for "sale." I would have been happy to "buy" it! :D

Yeah, it was more of a pay it forward thing for me - I had gotten it free and so passed it along. As you can imagine it was gone in minutes with multiple backups.

One thing I will say about Vistana that has happened to me twice now. Be sure to check with closing company that the seller pays their maintenance fees before closing. Vistana will transfer ownership with maintenance fee balance and you will get stuck with the bill unless the seller reimburses you.
