How difficult to trade to St. Kitts

I'm in escrow on a NCV platinum (paid resale $16K).

What's my chances of trading for St. Kitts, St. Thomas or Aruba in June 2009or August 2009.

If you can, have the current owner make a reservation for you so that you get a decent week reserved (the reservation can be switched over to you afterwards). You want a week with a high trade value.

As soon as you "own" the unit, deposit it into II and request as wide a range of dates as you can go. With 3 resorts and a range of a few weeks you should get one without a problem.

You should have a good chance at Aruba in Jun 2009. There are some efficiency rooms avail right now in II at Marriott Surf Club.

Thanks for the guidance since I'm new to this.

If I did the "request first" method instead of a deposit, does this greatly diminish my chances? Or am I being too conservative as I would hope to exchange for a two BR in St. Kitts, St. Thomas or Aruba since this is what I own at NCV. Also, is Aruba within the hurrican zone?

Aruba

I don't think "request first" will diminish your chances, but beware ... I learned the hard way. If you do a "request first", you can only exchange up to the date of your assigned week (and if your assigned check-in day is Friday, that means you can't exchange for Sat or Sun of the same weekend).

So ... if you get a week assigned, make sure it's way beyond when you want to exchange for ... e.g., get a late August week and do a request first for your dates ... but you have to be willing to go to NCV that late August week if your exchange doesn't come thru.

Unless they've changed the rules ... this happened to me about 3 years ago, I was able to talk Marriott into cancelling my request first and I just did a real exchange.

Aruba is outside of the hurricane zone ... that's what's so nice about it. You might get some residual rain but nothing hurricane-force.

We own a Sport week at Marriott Cypress Harbour in Orlando. We put in an ongoing search in May of 2008 and was confirmed at the Aruba Ocean Club for the 4th of July 2009. It only took two months for confirmation. I think your chances are good for Aruba if do an ongoing search and wait it out.

I think you will be fine. This summer I went to ST. Kitts is June and I am
going to Aruba on Friday. I got a 2bedrooms and two baths at both, both
with lockoff.
