How can I force HGVC to borrow 2027 club points rather than using 2026 bHC points for a 2026 club reservation?

I don't seem to have the option when making the reservation.

Why does it matter?

Because, in general, you don’t to waste bHC expensive points on a regular HGVC reservation. You want to spend those bHC points on a bHC reservation.

Unfortunately (and unlike MVC), HGVC doesn't allow you to choose which points to use for a reservation. As @SmithOp suggested you can get around this by making a dummy reservation, booking the one you want, and then cancelling the dummy. I've done this...but I'm sure there might be some situation where the point shuffle doesn't quite work.

The alternative (which I read about when deciding to buy at W57) is that folk here have reported that in this particular instance HGVC CSRs are willing to 'swap points' after the fact. But I've never tried.

it's strange because I know there are times I've been asked which points to use. Is that when I'm modifying a reservation?

I remember now the bHC dummy booking to preserve those points, thank you for the reminder!

You will get a choice for borrowing in certain cases. If you are booking a bHC reservation that involves borrowing and you have both bHC and HGVC points in the next year you will be presented with a choice (via slider or manual entry) to decide just how many of each of those buckets to pull from. Doesn't apply to the current case, but this may be where @letsgobobby got the points use choice.

Cheers.

I believe you can only borrow one year out - so you'll need to make the reservation in 2026 to borrow from 2027. Other option is to call the reservation desk and try it that way now.

Yes but I can book a 2026 reservation in 2025 using 2027 points. So that's not the issue.

For me, i did make a dummy bHC booking and now it is correctly borrowing my 2027 HGVC points to make a 2026 HGVC reservation. And when it does that it gives me the option of borrowing 2027 bHC or 2027 HGVC points.
