I was just looking at the RCI site and checked about availability at the Houses at Summer Bay. I noticed something strange (at least to me)

Most all of the availability was odd check in and out dates. Like a Monday -Wednesday, or a Sunday-Wednesday, or a Tuesday-Thursday. I did not see any week long units.

Is this because people actually come for a few days in the middle of the week to these houses? Or is the resort using these to fill so that they can try to sell visitors? Or some other reason?

Years ago when we stayed at HSB, they exchanged just like most other timeshares: week long stays. I realize that points might be part of the answer, but points resorts do at least have some weeklong availability.

It looks like all of the current inventory is points inventory. You have to go 9 months out to find weeks that still have all 7 days intact. I doubt it was deposited this way, but you never know. In all likelihood it has been sitting in inventory for 10+ months and just got carved up by rci members.

Rci points fees- online and call center prices
RCI Points Reservation: 7+ Nights $159 $169
RCI Points Reservation 6 nights $149 $159
RCI Points Reservation: 5 Nights $129 $139
RCI Points Reservation 4 nights $99 $109
RCI Points Reservation: 3 Nights $79 $89
RCI Points Reservation 2 nights $59 $69
RCI Points Reservation: 1 Nights $39 $49
RCI Weeks Reservation (7 nights) $209 $219

But don't forget that most resorts charge an extra hk fee that can range anywhere for $29 for the stay up to $99 (and sometimes even more for very large units) for the stay if you stay less than 7 nights or check in or out on a non traditional check in day or require a change to a different room location during the week.
