Has anyone stayed at the hotel in Wailea? We are adding 2 nights to our Maui Ocean Club trip and staying at that hotel. Using points of course.

We just did that this past August. We used points at he Wailea Marriott first hen transfered to the timeshare for a week. The only problem with using points is you are going to be placed in a room overlooking the parking lot. At check in they will try to get you to upgrade to an ocenaview room for an additional $75 or $100.00. So, if you definately want the Oceanview room get the upgrade certificate using points.

The hotel was very nice, especially the Infinity pool. The staff though was indiferent. There is not a swimmable beach on site, so you have to walk a little bit. We didnlt eat at the restaurant on site- it was pricey. There is a shopppng center nearby with alot of restaurants. The rooms were very large and nicely decorated. We wound up with a room over the restaurant overlooking one of the pools and the ocean. I think I paid an extra $75 per day, but was not charged for parking and didn't get charged for internet fees either.

There is a resort fee, you aren't required to pay when using points.

How do I do this? This will be my first time using my Marriott points.

go on the website - I did that - I paid extra points for ocean view. They have so many different choices. Go on the regular marriott website

www.marriott.com

then put in your dates, hotel, marriott number (if you're not registered online - just register) and you will get all kinds of choices. You can also do this on the phone if you prefer.

I chose 7 nights with a certificate - I bought a TRAVEL package - this is urgent to do - best use of your points. If you want a travel package - call Marriott to order it. You also get 120K FF miles.

Your choices will include such as the following:
7 nights, no view - 130K
7 nights, ocean view - 130K + 150 dollars per night to upgrade
7 nights, ocean view - 130K + 15K per night upgrade
etc.

Choose what you want. I had plenty of points - and it's HAWAII - so I upgraded.

If you need more help using points, come on over to the Marriott board.:cheer:
