A friend is planning to spend 4 nights in Waikiki (2 adults, 2 children) - any recommendation for a good beach hotel at Waikiki?
(yes... they are set on Waikiki beach...)

The Outrigger Reef is right on the beach, adjacent to the spacious Hale Koa beach, and easy walking distance to all the Waikiki attractions. Definitely worth checking out. And if they happen to be there on Friday night, the Hale Koa sets off fireworks over the beach. Makes a great event for kids.

They'll want to shop around for the best rates. http://www.outriggerreef-onthebeach...d_CopyUnrestrictedSpringPercentOff-LPSpecials

With 2 kids you might want a larger room The Aston Waikiki Beach Tower has much larger rooms than your average hotel room.

Both are good choices and I agree that Aston Waikiki Beach Tower has bigger rooms - we stayed there the first time we took our kids to Oahu when they were 8 and 5. Other options for family are Hilton Grand Waikikian and Wyndham Waikiki Beach Walk. Both are timeshares and Wyndham is not exactly on the beach but very close to it. If money is no object, I would recommend Halekulani. Luxury accommodation, Top-notch service and in a good location.

FYI: It's the Hilton Hawaiian Village that does the fireworks.

Thanks folks - they went with Outrigger.
Happy Trails...

It is? Whoops. I was misinformed. But I know Hale Koa beach is a great place to see them go off.

Agree. I usually sit on the "wall" on the beach between the two properties or watch from the lanai when I'm in a Kalia Tower studio.
