As I understand from reading the TUG HGVC overview, for a home resort reservation season you must have: (i) a one-week vacation (ii) at the home resort (iii) during the home season (iv) in the size unit that they own (v) with the home resort check-in date (e.g., Saturdays).

My question is....what if you want less than one week, like 4 days, but at your home resort, during the home season, in the size unit you own? Do you have to wait for the club season? Would there be any way to go ahead and make the reservation for a week during the home season, then cancel the 3 days I didn't want during the club season? If it is possible, is there a fee for this change? Would I be credited back the points I didn't use? Is there a deadline at which I could no longer cancel those 3 days? Thanks!!

I've never done this, but I don't think it would be allowed. You would have to cancel the entire week and then re-book in club season.

Is there a fee to do this? Theoretically, the time would be available though, right? Since you are cancelling and then re-booking part of a week you already had?

According to the Member Guide (p.168), there is no penalty for Home Week cancellations 31 days or more prior to check-in. You will need to call to make the cancellation. There will be a new reservation fee.

In theory, that is correct. But in practice, the week you cancel may not show up in Club Season availability right away. You run the risk that someone else would grab that week (or a part of it) before you get a chance to do so.
