Typically, I spend Memorial Day weekend at my home resort each year. I only own the one week and am not part of the points system.

Today, I was online at 9am to make next year's reservation and there was NO availability. Quickly called reservations and got through at 9:05 and they confirmed no availability.

What is happening? Is the points system destroying availability for weeks owners? Trying not to turn this into a rant, but this sucks.

There is a pattern emerging, here, however, we don’t have good data, and don’t know the numerator and denominator.

If I were you, I’d call or email MVCI Escalations/Executive Office. Also, I’d describe your experience with MVW on www.trustpilot.com.

I hate to say it, but, moving forward, when you use the MVW website, and can’t make the reservation of your choice, take lots of screen shots.

Finally, you do have a way to your Home Resort, if you have to go that route, it will unfortunately cost you money, that you should not have to spend. You’d need an Interval International membership with your Marriott ownership associated with it. You could get the best week of your choice, assigned to you, at your Home Resort, and do an I.I. exchange back into your Home Resort, for the date of your choice.

Sometimes there are glitches, so keep checking online. Also, if you haven't already done so, go to the "When can I reserve?" tool online to check the day inventory drops for your specific day and resort.

After digging a bit, there seems to be a mismatch between the reservations website and the published weeks calendar. This is for the Barony Beach Club. I have owned a Gold week there since construction. I was trying to reserve for a check-in for the weekend of May 28-30.

The website reservation system shows it as a Gold week and the Calendar shows it as Platinum. I put in a request in the distressed forum for a Platinum owner to check and see if they can see inventory for those check-in dates. Called customer service and was told that the inventory should show up tomorrow. Told the representative, I would try again and if it wasn't there, I would call and ask for him.
This is going to be interesting.

When I check When Can I Reserve for that week, it says tomorrow.

Mine is saying today, but a rep told me tomorrow.

We have encountered this very issue, before. It is entirely unacceptable.

A reminder, these Marriott Vacation Club creatures have been in the business of allegedly making reservations at their timeshare resorts, since 1984. The fact that, in 2026, 42 years later - - they can’t perform the most basic function of making a reservation for Home Resort occupancy, is a repulsive reflection of Marriott Vacations Worldwide leadership, all of them.

I had the same issue today. I own a gold garden view week. I got the same old line “the multi week owners snatched up all the all of the garden view units and there were none left at 8:00:001”.

I will call tomorrow but usually it’s Thursday that we can book. I grabbed an earlier week but it’s super annoying.

Are you referring to Barony Beach? How many units in this resort?

There are about 200 garden view villas, which is what I was trying to book.

These are not in high demand. It’s implausible they all went in one second!

I apologize for sounding like a contrarian, but there are approximately 255 total villas at Barony, 90 of which are Garden View. I don’t have access to data, but I’m guessing the last week of Gold Season in the spring is the most difficult to get. Gold was a lot less upfront than Platinum season, but if you went as soon as school let out, you could get right on the edge of Platinum.

I have owned this unit for over a decade. I’ve even gotten confused in the past about the date to reserve and was able to obtain Memorial Day week with no problem. It’s never been an issue booking this week in the past.

I know that the answer always feels like: this person doesn’t understand how it works. But I actually have a lot of experience booking this exact week. It’s never been unavailable within 1 second of the booking window opening. Despite it being one of the best weeks in the season.

Escalate it up the chain of command. Become a pain in the as*. One problem is the new Leaders.

PS: I wonder if First Generation Sabal Palms owners remember how we had to send a FAX to Owner Services in Lakeland, Florida, with our Top Three Choices, to make our “Floating Week” reservation. I’m vague on check-in days, I seem to think, that, in the beginning there was 1 check-in day? I do remember that generation with the “wet paper” FAX machines, and the paper that curled, and yellowed.

Fax machines continue to exist in 2026 as well.

This is going to be interesting.
Interesting to see if they have moved the plat season, that looks to be the case for 2027 and 2028 and then Memorial day is back in gold season for 2029

No joy here. There was no inventory available this morning. Quite disappointing.

Not sure what I am going to do. Can't go earlier in May due to other commitments. May end reserving for the week of the RBC Heritage tournament and then depositing/renting it.

Did you ask owner services to clarify the anomaly about Gold vs plat season for that specific week?

Many of us as week owners are frustrated by the lack of available week inventory (eaten up by despositing weeks for points or depositing in Interval.) The good news is "your in season week is there for you."

It does seem many owners are quite resourceful and find their way around the obstacles. Your Gold week is there and you own it but you have a problem with getting the week you want in the Gold season. Consider getting the best week you can in your season and renting it out and re-renting the week you want. You can also deposit your week in Interval and hope they find the week this year or next and just rent the week for this year.

It's a different plan from what we signed up for. I found it much easier to book a summer week at Newport Coast before the points system. Now, the points system brings in a whole new flock of users (even though the points system is much more expensive than what we had. These points owners focus lots of points on the few great resorts we have in the US as opposed to the lesser demand locations. The points system, in my view, changed the focus to the better resorts and seasons.

Go on Redweek Rentals, look at the postings, and then make a low offer for the week you want. Go down the list of availables and make multiple low offers. Look, you are asking for a Gold week and it's not always easy to rent weeks. You are likely to be surprised.

I don’t know the dynamics of Barony inventory, but, this strikes me as odd, and raises my suspect.

See, my post, above, #2, about doing an II exchange back into Barony, for the week, and check-in date of your choice. You will have a like-for-like exchange, and Home Resort priority.

Ok I am just realizing that this whole thing is actually no big deal.

Gold season at Barony includes week 21, which is almost always Memorial Day week. However, next year Memorial Day is late (May 31). So 2027 just happens to be a rare year in which Memorial Day week does not fall in Gold season.

There actually is nothing nefarious going on. Its just a calendar thing.
