So I booked a reservation yesterday and realized it was the wrong date this morning. It is for next summer. Called to cancel and was told both the reservation fee and the points guard fee I paid both were not refunded. What kind of backwater , used car lot, street thug is this company becoming? Anyone have this issue and did you escalate it?

That policy of refunding the fees if cancelled within 24 hours was changed a while ago. If you read the cancellation policy page that pops up before you finalize your booking it states "All fees are final transactions and non-refundable". Don't remember exactly when this was changed but it has been a while.

I also find if you are courteous enough and go beyond first line reps to the supervisor/manager level they are able to undo anything over t&c stated, especially since this is over a year out. The key is to be kind and courteous and if at first you don't succeed try again, doesn't mean it will always work but you have nothing to lose. I have had great success obtaining refunds on both hotel & airfare outside stated t&c. Most humans are capable of understanding common errors particularly when it does not necessitate a negative financial impact to the bottom line. Good luck, I also find Asian reps are more willing to go outside the strict rules moreso then US based reps, so perhaps call at night. Also try different channels, chat, social media, calling every channel has different levels of authority, X and Facebook have a strong company presence. DO NOT write what you wrote towards the end of your post here šŸ˜‰
