I didn't read the article, but I can't help noticing that you (and perhaps the article) called it Persia and not Iran. That's very significant. The Jewish people who have immigrated to the US from Iran all refer to themselves as being from Persia, as do many Christians. They *never* say they are Iranian, but instead Persian. There is a large Persian community in Los Angeles now.

I think it's the largest community of Persian's outside modern day Iran. The mayor of Beverly Hills is Persian. As was a former employer of mine. The family emigrated from Iran when the Shah was deposed, as did many professionals during that period of time. They all refer to themselves as Persian.
