I purchased HGV trust points *8k bi-annual and have been since made a single parent. Now I am unable to travel enough for it to be even considered "worth it". I still have 8k bonus points with more than a year remaining until they expire.

What is the easiest way to get rid of this? I already paid off the loan and have no dues until next year. I dont care about the money already lost in it just want to move on without costing too much more. I have tried searching for how to get out, but so much information points to deeded timeshares and most comments about HVC points just say "dont do it or cancel".

does this work
That actually looks more like what I was searching for. Thank you

I've never done anything like this before. Do I need to use a transfer company like LT Transfers?

The main issue you have is what you own is worth $0. Perhaps even a negative dollar amount. HGV puts a big restriction on the usage of the resale buyer. They can not use the points within The Club and can only stay at resorts in the US Collection. They also can't enroll in DEX with the collection points. You can try giving the points away for free. You may need to offer free usage and pay the closing costs.

At this point I dont care and will offer for free just to be done with it. What are general closing cost on something like this?

Have you contacted HGV regarding using Transitions to deed it back to them?

The reality is that it's going to be difficult to get rid of 8K points. You didn't say what the maintenance fees were. The HVC 8,000 points usually won't get you much compared to their unreasonably high maintenance fees. That's why it's hard to even give them away. As a last resort you can refuse to pay the fees when they're due next. They may pester you with calls and threatening letters, but they can't force you to pay. Whatever you do, don't believe any company that says they can get rid of your ownership. Those people are even worse than the ones that talked you into buying in the first place.

The Marketplace really works well for timeshares with value. To give away a timeshare for free, try the free timeshare forum. Look through it to see how those that were successful “sold” their timeshare. Feel free to copy what was successful for others.

How much are your MF's and Club Fees for 2026?

How much are your MF's and Club Fees for 2026?
I don't have the billing for the Club dues yet, but the deeded weeks went up 5% to $2,767.19/week. That's for a 2 bedroom oceanfront at The Point at Poipu. It takes 15,500 point to book that through the Club.

New buyer won't be able to get a Poipu res anyway

Tough spot.

Should have given this to the EX

Just Apply for Transitions.

Yes, once you have a buyer/new owner.

I'm in the same boat, trying to get rid of my HGVC points. I contacted the Transitions Program. They replied with a price of 18 months of maintenance fees. If we try to sell, HGVC has Right of First Refusal (ROFR), which means they may not let us sell our points to anyone, or they will require a transfer fee under their Ownership Transfer Program. You need to call them to get any useful info.

It means they have a right to buy it from you with the same price offered by the buyer. They can't keep you from selling it. The buyer may be able to make a higher offer.

We need to be clear here, because the difference is important. If I am going by your profile, you don't own Hilton Grand Vacations Club (HGVC) points. You own Hilton Vacation Club (HVC) trust points in the US Collection. This is the former Diamond Resorts points product. HGVC doesn't sell points. HVC sells points. Hilton Grand Vacations (HGV) is the umbrella company that owns both HGVC and HVC. Confused yet.

The problem with US Collection points is they have $0 resale value. They may even have negative value meaning you might have to pay the closing costs and one year of maintenance fees with the buyer getting free use just to get someone to take them. There are thousands of other owners in the same situation. Hilton Grand Vacations won't take them back through ROFR. They don't even want them. They have lots still to sell.

Your best option may be to pay the 18 months of fee to go through Transitions or just stop paying maintenance fees and loan payments (if applicable) and take the potential consequences.

To all HVC owners, please read dioxide45, second paragraph and third paragraph. . He hit it on the spot with no sugar coating. IMHO

1. Ouch!! Hilton hides that distinction very well.
2. What’s your opinion on the TS Exit companies like: Lonestar Transfwr; Timeshare Specialist; Vacation Ownership Consultants, etc? They are listed in the Hilton Transitions site.

I think Hilton uses very similar Initials for their various companies to deliberately confuse people.

They're all trash. They can do nothing for you that you can't do yourself for free. Absolute waste of money. Don't give them any money. Can you provide a link to where Hilton Transitions lists there outfits on their website. I would be shocked if they were doing so.

My error. Hilton points to ARDA where resale/rental companies are listed, not exit companies.
Hilton's Transition Program requires us to pay 18 months of maintenance fees to exit, with no timeline provided. No comment about paying MF during the timeframe. Their phone line msg says "Your call is outside business hours". That was all day Thurs & Fri. They reacted to my Transition submittal and gave me the cost to exit. Along with not answering the phone, even from the internal Hilton agents, they don't answer emails requesting more info on the transition.
