I have a question for those of you seasoned Orlando/ HGVC TUGers. I have a meeting(6 days) late next (unfortunately) January at the Orlando Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center. I would like to reserve a week at a Hilton timeshare property that is as close to this Marriott facility as possible.

I also have hhhonor points that could be used at a Hilton family hotel if that would make more sense. (Would prefer to use points in Europe or on Maui)

While I would prefer not to have to rent a car to commute back and forth each day, my glance at the map leads me to the conclusion that that the Orlando area sprawls and that I may need one unless cab fare is cheap.

Any suggestions? TIA! Kildahl

Go to the Hilton.com website.

Under "Find a Hotel" click on "By Address". Type in the address, city and state for the Marriot hotel, leave the dates blank and under "Hotels" select "All Hilton Family Hotels" from the dropped down list then click "FIND IT".

It will display a list of hilton options (including HGVC) and the distance.

I am assuming you mean "World" Center resort, on World Center Drive. You omitted the word WORLD. HGVC International drive is the closest then.

The closest intersection is Vineland and I Drive, just a bit north of the marriott.

Quick drive but a long walk away.

Yes, go for the I-Drive location. Closer and nicer.

But definitely rent a car. It's not walking distance, and cabbing back and forth the whole time would undoubtedly cost more than renting a car.

It appears that car rentals in Orlando can be expensive during the high demand weeks (e.g. Spring break), but quite cheap at other times. I got a full-sized car from Priceline last April for a total of $117 for the week, taxes included.
