I need advice from anyone who uses the Hilton American Express Aspire airline credit. For starters, I didn't use my 2019 benefit and am wondering if there's anyway to use it in the next couple days through Alaska (purchase miles, etc).

In 2020, I'll be going to Vancouver, B.C. and will likely use Alaska. I have the Alaska air credit card and am looking at using it for that trip for the companion pass or getting rid of it and using my Aspire card. I'll need to assign an airline in January for the AmEx and that's what I'll have for the rest of the year.

Does anyone know which charges are reimbursed for the Aspire card when using Alaska air? I assume in flight purchases and luggage fees, but does the actual cost of the flight count?

I don't fly often and I don't want to fly. Since I'm already paying $450 for the Aspire card, I'd like to get my airline credit back if possible. I don't care a lot about the Alaska companion pass, other than if it pencils out to use that even if my Vancouver trip is the only flight I take next year.

The actual flight cost will not count. I believe it will if the flights are under $100. It works that way with Southwest. Gift card purchases also do not count but you could buy a gift card for yourself to get the flight cost under $100 and then apply the remainder to your AMEX. Book the flight as two one-ways so you can do it twice.
