HHV Construction?

There is some minor activity at the Hilton Hawaiian Village based on the October 2013 Newletter from the Village Rejuvenation site.

From the October newletter
- Tapa Bar Makeover is scheduled for completion in November, 2013.
- Main Lobby Redesign is scheduled for completion in late December, 2013.
- Bali Steak & Seafood and Paradise Lounge scheduled for completion in late December, 2013.
- Rainbow Tower Mural is scheduled for completion in April 2014.

Thanks, except for the work on the mural, there shouldn't be any problem/noise in the rooms. :banana:

That is a nice schedule. All the work that would be disruptive to our enjoyment of the property will be finished before our arrival in January.
 
Seems trivial compared to building the GW tower, we skipped our home week that year.

That is where the Paradise pool now is, but at that time, they were preparing the location as the staging area for building the Grand Waikikian.

The "ugly green building" is the Illiki next door. It is iconic as the building that has the McGarret balcony scene at the beginning of Hawaii 50.
 
Yes, that's the new super pool location, the new lobby and WK tower are to the right. The ugly green building is the Ilikai. The marina is to the left.

Hilton has lots of plans for the Hilton Hawaiian Village (HHV) over the next several years.

In the past year, Hilton has invested more than $90 million into HHV, including the two beachfront towers, the Tapa Pool, the Coral Ballroom and retail space improvements.

RAINBOW TOWER MURAL WORK planned for 2013 & 2014
Funjet’s website states the following…
“The Rainbow Tower Mural will undergo a full rejuvenation. We expect the weeks of Oct 10-Nov 15, 2013 (Mountain-side) and Nov 1-Dec 9, 2013 (Ocean-side) to be the most noisy as they will be removing the old tiles. This work should cause little to no inconvenience to guests as it is contained on the 'mountain-side' and 'ocean-side' of the Rainbow Tower and is located in an area where few guests traverse.”

Also, HHV has requested a safety zone area from October 2013 through March 2014 for the Rainbow Tower Mural work - http://files.hawaii.gov/dlnr/meeting/submittals/130913/D-Land-Submittals-D6.pdf


NEW HGVC DERUSSEY TOWER planned for 2014 through 2016
In April 2013, Hilton stated that they will begin construction in 2014 on a new HHV towers.
