HGVC VIP Program 11,500 points and 18 months, is it a good idea?

The way it was explained to me is you purchased a 7 night stay in a 2 bedroom. The points don’t really matter. Now you can break up the week into 2 trips. Book early for what you want as the marketing packages have a limited inventory.
Dumb question, after 18 months; are you force to buy a timeshare or do you start all over with a new contract ?
How much is this contract and do you need to pay any exchange fee or a yearly M/F ?

Once and done trial.

Use it or lose it at 18 months.

Need to book 9 months out on the 1st of the month to get best options, but they always update to call and pray!

THey stressed 9 months before 1st of the month to call.
I am confused I thought the 11,500 points were for whatever my points could get me, not just a 2 bedroom. I would only need a 1 bedroom anyway. What about Orlando, how many points would it cost me for SeaWorld or Parc for a 1 bedroom?

No it is a one shot contract, after the 18 months or exhausting the points it is finished. No MF and no exchange fee.

You should be able to get a 1 bdrm. Call the number and ask them to send you the brochure with the resorts and point charts for each. What resorts are they offering in the VIP these days?

Correct, but capped at 7 days in total.

So if you stay in a studio, you just waste the extra points as they don't roll over like the actual timeshare HGVC points do.

Seaworld Parc- 2 Bedroom 7 days peak season 11,200.

I'd call them and have them recommend the best use of the points.

Please remember they are trying to sell something to you, so sometimes they have options we don't see.

Sedona Summit, Ridge on Sedona, Scottsdale Villa Mirage, Scottsdale Links, MarBrisa, SeaWorld Orlando, Parc Soleil, Grand Islander, Grand Waikkian, Hokulani, Kingsland, Kohala Suites, The Boulevard, Elara, West 57th, Ocean 22, Ocean Enclave, The Historic Powhatan, The District, and La Pacifica Los Cabos are in the brochure. When I called to schedule Kingsland they also offered me the HVC on Kaui and (other island I can't remember, Maui? but not HGVC), I didn't pay attention because I specifically wanted to go back to Kingsland.

That's a much longer list than in the past because it includes HVC. No Cabo Azul or KBC? (darn - I would totally jump on that.)

Maybe that's why there is no brochure anymore - but I would at least expect a website with the points values.

IMHO...best values are Hawaii, NYC, Cabo. The rest might be rented for less (not sure about Myrtle and other east coast - never go there.).

However best value is trading club because I can trade with 11,200 $1000 MF Vegas plus no presentation (and no resort fees that you would get with RCI.)

So a 7 days stay will cost you 11,200 points or a nightly cost about $225.00 per night during peak season.

Do you have to do another update meeting when you book one of the resorts? If so, sounds like a version of an encore package.

Yes. This is HGVC equivalent of Abound Encore package.

Have you read the contract you signed? It should explain everything about using the points, whether you can split into multiple trips.

Personally I wouldn't travel all the way from FLA to Hawaii for less than a week. I'm leaving tomorrow for Waikoloa, 10 days, that's about a minimum any more for us.

I agree - last year I did a San Diego & LA (5 nights)/ Honolulu trip (3 nights) and Honolulu was the best part of the trip. Immediately regretted not staying longer.

We did a VIP package at Kings Land this past summer and were only able to get 1 bedroom. We called all of the time, but no luck. They offered us a split say with a 2 bedroom at Bay club. We were definitely in a newer phase building and loved the pools, especially the main pool. We had a great time at the resort and would love to go back!

We did have to go on a tour at the Ocean Tower during our trip, and the tour was fine, but the salesman became a jerk at the end when we kept saying no. Stick strong and be like the kids in the 80s, “just say no!”
