I have a reservation using points for late December and it looks like I can add one night to the end of the reservation. Can I modify it now that I am less than 60 days away? The following message appears when I try:

“This option is only offered on eligible Home Resort or Club Reservations using ClubPoints. You may opt to change the unit size, type, location, duration or date of travel. Your reservation may be changed up to 61 days prior to arrival date without incurring additional transaction fees, provided travel occurs in the same calendar year. Changes made 60 days or less are not permitted and are treated as a cancellation.”

Thank you @jabberwocky. I had a feeling that was the answer, so I am glad I asked before I took any action online.

Did you try calling in? We have had luck with the Customer service reps making the changes for us.

Thanks for the suggestion. The night we needed was gone by the morning and it hasn’t shown up since, so I didn’t bother calling.

I really wish HGVC would change the policy to allow you to add days, even up to shortly before arrival. I understand not being able to drop days, but if the inventory is there they should allow the addition of days.

Frequently, I will add an extra day to a reservation if the points aren’t too high just in case our plans change or if flights get hosed up. I have a 2BR booked now under the Black Friday promo that I will only likely use 6 nights, but booked 7 mainly due to the fact our flights are on JetBlue and I have no confidence in them sticking to their schedule. I’m paying just over $80/night, so if they do change their flight times I have some flexibility for our lodging.

I agree completely. In the case of bHC reservations, one can just book a separate day and call to have them joined. But this is not an option with HGVC reservations due to the 3 night minimum. Addition should definitely be allowed last minute.

Cheers.

A couple days ago, I called and was told I would need to cancel and rebook since the reservation was within 60 days. I wanted to add a couple days that showed up and reservation was 33 days away. Did not want to risk losing the days I already have as it is a Christmas and New Years reservation in Waikiki.

Its a cancel for sure, I've dealt with this with several rooms here leading into the Holiday.

The thing to note: If you have enough POINTS, book the stay you want FIRST, then cancel your original.
OR,
If you don't have enough points, do everything LATE at NIGHT.

I have lost a room to the fact that I did not have enough points and having to cancel first to rebook. I called in and yelled and cried, they could help me ... said it was 'rare'.
If you see the same room type and the same block in the portal with just that extra night you want, then everyone else can see the same.

Good idea. Unfortunately the dates we currently have reserved are not available. Otherwise I would try that approach.

I have been booking the day before we land so we can get in the room at 10 am instead of 4 pm.
