HGVC Resale booking into HVC resorts

@iftravel, it probably will be expensive to use bHC points to book HVC/BG and even HGVC points. If you like what you see and backdoor max continues, you may want to consider purchasing a cheap HGVC deed in the future.
Is getting Max by buying bHC deeds becoming common? I imagine most owners would not be saying anything about getting Maxed after buying resale.

Yes, make sense. I am thinking to acquire something that both has points and DEX. So if I am deMaxed, I still get DEX. Craig can be one option, anything else?

If you own certainly deeded HGVC properties such as Craigendarroch Lodges, Bay Club, Plantation Beach Club at IRP and one of the Marco Beach resorts (I think Charter Club) you can trade in DEX. I enrolled my CL and am purchasing currently a second CL just for DEX trading. I think that any HVC/DRI "deeded" resale ownership can also use DEX. Obviously, I think that CL is the better option for me but something like HVC Sedona Summit deeded 2BR LO might be a pure better DEX trader. I personally like to option to use as HGVC pts should DEX trading options change in the future.

Yeah thinking the same. Did you get a 1-bed or 2-bed CL? Perhpas 1-bed is enough for DEX.

I am curious what is the exchange fee for DEX, and is it free for MAX?

My original CL is a 3BR platinum season, DEX tier 6 trader (better option would be a 2BR platinum season tier 6 trader). My second purchase is a 1BR platinum season DEX tier 4 trader. You can look at the DEX guide to decide what would be the best option for you.

Same thing happened to me, half Maxed, so free reservations for Max properties, still charge for HGVC res. Had to call a couple times to get AI. I was unMaxed, then Max appeared again after a few days.

Hi do you have priortiy booking into NYC and do you have access to RCI? My cost for Max is I lost those two.

I am curious if I should call to get those two back, and then the question is when Max is back, do I lose them again.

Can CL lock off?

Hi do you have priority booking into NYC...
A benefit of owning at The Quin, The Residences, The Central, or the District in DC (but not W57) is that they have a reciprocal "By Hilton Club Priority" booking window from 91-104 days out so you can book at one of the others before those resorts become available to other HGVC owners.

free guest cert with max
"Your HGV Max membership gives you 1 complimentary guest certificates per year. You currently have 1 complimentary guest certificates remaining for use in 2026."

Yeah, I lost that when Maxed. But today I got RCI working. One interesting observation is HGVC's RCI portal is so much FASTER, much better than my experience with RCI.com.

The reciprocal bHC priority window has nothing to do with Max and existed long before the Diamond acquisition was a gleam in HGV's eye.

If you call HGVC the CSR will be happy to book you a reservation at the Quin, Residences, or Central from 91-104 days out...it's just that the website has issues for some owners. But you could also file a 'trouble ticket' and see if it gets resolved.

I never lost RCI access. Also, since I have W57th, there is no reciprocal NYC/DC booking window for that property. I just have my normal club booking windows and the W57th owner window. I also own Elara HGVC.

Though I was able to book priority window before being Maxed, since i particularly checked NYE availability for NYC. They just happened on the same day so correcting one might mean the other…

I was able to make a DEX exchange with my new free Embarc points account today. I only have 6k points every year, which get deposited as tier 3. I could combine two years points to get the higher tier, or pay an upgrade fee. So far I'm happy with this new account, and it's another vector into DEX and the Embarc resorts .

I'm still not impressed with Max :)

What are the maintenance fees on 6k Embarc points?

So far I’m actually impressed by Max. :D

There are more than 200 Hilton quality resorts to choose from (dramatically expanded the legacy HGVC locations and more Bluegreen will be added). You can book a couple of days here and there. Cash rate and discounted points redemption is available for last minutes. No added fees like booking or housekeeping (true?) for short stays etc. I am not able to compare to DEX but on my list to try to get access.

BTW, if I buy Embarc or HVC for DEX, is it going to be lumped together under the same HGV portal?

My deposit in Dex was good for five years, and I booked an HVC location for October 2026, Max is limited to 6 months but that might suit your use case. Embarc has cash and point last minute also. There was a booking fee in Dex, not sure if they will charge resort fees, there was a note that said owners and point users don't pay it, not sure what points were referred to. I'd suggest reading the Embarc rules document linked in the sticky, it's very similar to HGVC.

I have two accounts now but the portals are very similar, same url, Embarc has much better search options.

Embarc doesn't pay resort fees for HVC exchanges. If you haven't joined our FB group yet, you should. It's mostly to answer "use" questions and tips about exchanging etc. The second group that you join automatically once in the first, offers "rentals" of points and bookings between members.

Oh cool what did you book? Like to try it with Max. Yeah Max's booking window isn't good but if I am just using it for last minute I think the access itself is nice. When I get to the point that I feel I need to go back to certain locations certain time then DEX is a must to lock in early.

Villas de Santa Fe NM. I understand it's been updated recently by Hilton, the old reviews focused on everything being worn out.

We've stayed at several Sedona locations when it was DRI so wife wanted to try Santa Fe, and we have a niece to visit that just moved near there. Her husband is stationed at Holloman AFB.
