Howdy! Still very green to the HGVC. We were offered when we purchased and now again for a package with RCI for $1499 for a 2 year deal, for a 4 week a year package. Weeks we don't use, could be sold as last minute sales and we are supposed to be able to get a check or direct deposit for these, for an overall profit. I have searched all over forums and the web about this, as it seems too good to be true. Will you experienced HGVC owners provide your expertise and experience with this? Greatly appreciate the feedback!

Who offered it to you and how was it offered to you? Random phone call? Avoid.

I haven’t heard of anything like this. A couple of questions:

1. Who did you purchase your HGVC from? Was it resale or through the developer?

2. Who offered the deal? Was it HGVC? Did they say they were RCI?

3. Were you called out of the blue? Was the original offer done at closeing?

My instinct says run away. I have never heard of a developer offering that to a customer before.

You are not allowed to Rent RCI so it sounds a bit wonky to me.

Scammers call all the time pretending to be HGVC (or any system that fits the person they are calling) and tell you that you have extra RCI or II getaway weeks. They tell you they can rent them for you for big bucks but, and this is their scam, they want you to pay them an upfront fee. Once you pay they either disappear or they tell you the contract you signed with them was only to place your timeshare week for rent on their poor website. Is this the scenario that you experienced?

This is not connected to HGVC... not in any way that's legitimate.
HGVC gives members access to RCI via their HGVC membership.
They do not sell any limited-time use of RCI weeks. Nada.
RCI use depends solely on the number of HGVC points you have.

This shark, pretending to be affiliated, is offering a rental package,
That's no allowed under RCI rules. IOW, you are being scammed.
... Run for the hills.
