I recently received this come-on from HGVC, tied to the opening of Universal's new Epic park. The list includes both the traditional HGVC resorts and the HVC (formerly Diamond) resorts, but I was intrigued by the presence of "HGVC Polynesian Isles Kissimmee" in the list. I've never seen this resort discussed on this board, and was wondering if it was a former Embarc resort that had already re-branded or if it had been a Diamond resort deemed high-enough quality to be upgraded to the HGVC branding. Cultural appropriation concerns aside, I just wanted to see what others' thoughts were about this resort or any further background that anyone might be able to provide.

We've stayed at Las Palmeras in a one-bedroom in the past, and I was kind of disappointed. (We did tour Parc Soleil, which felt HUGE and out-of-the-way at the same time.) Las Palmeras felt very much like a business/convention center hotel, rather than a "resort." I did notice that it was *not* included in this promotion, although all of the other HGVC resorts were--just another interesting point of note.

It is a typo on the article. Looks like it is a Hilton Vacation Club resort. Either former DRI or Bluegreen.

Former Diamond property. The offer is from HGV, but the resort is HVC.

EXACTLY! So hilarious that they are confused as well! Okay, that makes much more sense about why it's never been discussed on this board.

And, yes @dioxide45, the same concerns exist for any Polynesian-themed resorts outside of Polynesia--whether any one shares those concerns doesn't mean they don't exist.

Las Palmeras was a hotel conversion so it's no wonder it can't shake that vibe.
