HGVC Newbie Question

I'm thinking about purchasing HGVC resale points mainly for NYC Hilton Club or West 57th. How many points will I need for a 2 bedroom during summer months? Will I need to choose a "home" resort in nyc or is there a cheaper option? How difficult is it to trade into NYC? Any other advice for a newbie?

The Hilton Club – New York
1335 AVENUE OF THE AMERICAS, NEW YORK, NEW YORK, looks around 9,000 points for a week. Weekend per night is 2,000 or 2500 depending on early or later summer.

There are no 2 bedrooms at the 57th street property. One bedrooms go for 9,300 to 16,800 for a week depending on the unit.

You will need to buy this location to guarantee a summer stay there.

If you want NYC on a regular basis, I think you need to own NYC.

First off, Hilton Club is separate from HGVC. HGVC owners cannot use their points to make reservations at the Hilton Club (although Hilton Club members can reserve at HGVC properties). So to get reservations there, you need to own there.

HGVC West 57th has a very restrictive Club Season (the timeframe non-owners can use HGVC points to make a reservation). It is something like 44 days out vs. 9 months out for other HGVC properties.

With those restrictions, I would not recommend buying another HGVC property with the expectation of getting NYC reservations on a regular basis, especially if you need a 2BR unit!
