I don't know what this is asking. Housekeeping is a very small portion of MFs

Huh? Maintenance Fees cover more than just housekeeping.
Take a look at your Annual Billing Letter.

Take a look at your Annual Billing Letter.

You can find your Billing notice online under your HOA documents. It will be located under your contract (see screen captures below)
I've attached an example of Lagoon Tower's 2025 Billing Notice.

1. Housekeeping is less than 10% of annual fees.

2. You cannot opt out of paying any portion of annual fees, regardless if you do any housekeeping or maintenance yourself.

I suspect this poll is "tongue in cheek"? I mean, is HGVC really going to let us bring in our own housekeeper to clean after our stay? Are they really going to trust us to do it, then when they inspect the room an hour after our stay and we are gone home?

I am sure different people leave the room with different levels of cleanliness. We pick up after ourselves, leave no trash just laying around and try to take out the trash and load the dishwasher. There are a few exceptions to taking out the trash. If there is a trash chute or nearby bins, I take it. If there isn't I just leave it bagged up on the kitchen floor. I will load the dishwasher but sometimes (often?) forget to actually start it on the way out. Wet towels usually go in a bathtub or in a pile on the bathroom or shower floor. We don't strip linens from the beds and was actually only asked once at Marriott's Grande Ocean to do that. The text message said it was optional. We didn't do it because I don't think they actually take out the duvet and just replace the duvet cover. So I didn't bother. We also return any furnature we might have moved to its original locaiton. Think sliding the livingroom chair to a different corner, or taking a kitchen chair to another room. We aren't moving beds or anything.

I've heard stories about people leaving rooms in complete disarray. A huge pile of dirty dishes in the sink. Empty snack and beverage containers everywhere. Trash piled up (not bagged) in the corner. When we leave if it weren't for the beds not being made or upon closer inspection, you would think it was a clean room when you opened the door.

@raghu4yz, I think you need to know the definition of "maintenance fees" for timeshares. Maintenance fees cover a lot more than cleaning and doing laundry.

Timeshare maintenance fees include:
  • Housekeeping (cleaning bathrooms, kitchens, laundry)
  • Replacement of damaged items (dishes, towels, etc.)
  • Replacement of sofas, chairs, bedding after some period of time
  • Maintenance of major items, such as the roof and parking lot
  • Replacement of major items, such as the roof and re-paving the parking lot
  • Swimming pool cleaning, repair, and equipment replacement
  • Lots of other things not mentioned here.
The maids' fee isn't going to be enough to cover all of the items listed.

Yes capital upgrades, furniture, security, taxes, building updates and other will be in MF.
Is there something that can reduce MF? Or will MF keep going higher every year?

Do ts owners get in hoa annual meetings to vote?

Owners don't vote on the budget or anything fee-related. The budget is prepared by the management company and rubber stamped by the HOA board, which is also controlled by the management company. The management company is incentivised to increase the fees every year because their management fee is a percentage of maintenance fees. Fees go up -> management company profits go up. Owners have zero say in maintenance fees.
