Can anyone explain the relationship between HGVC and the three GP resorts affiliates? Does buying at one come with the offer to pay a fee to convert to Hilton points?

If you buy from the developer, you can add HGVC to it. If you buy on the resale market, you have to buy a contract that was already converted. You cannot buy one on the resale market for cheap and then covert it later, unless you do it while also buying a retail contract.

Is Grand Pacific a point, weeks, or both system? Does it have an online reservation system?

It is a weeks based system. There are a few contracts that have been converted to RCI points, but GPR has no points system in itself.

You can make reservations online, but they are not officially made until a person manually checks it and sends you an email. They don't always know what they are doing and can book you the wrong thing if you own more than one membership. They do have an online exchange company, which has been pretty easy to navigate, but even that requires someone to go in and check everything and email you later.
