HGVC acquisitions rumors

I suspect there may have been a different meaning, too.... ;)

There are many who paid retail to get Max.
They'll have to pay again to get "New Max."
-- Sales-weasel: "Old max is going away"

DRI tried to acquire Bluegreen in 2008 and 2012.

I never saw any official stories about attempted acquisition of Raintree.

If Hilton Grand Vacations acquire Bluegreen Vacations, they will have resorts in all categories from Midscale to Luxury like Hilton hotel portfolio.

Are Bluegreen properties at a level that they could put the Hilton brand on the resorts? At least without significant costs?
I would say that at least a couple are, but others really aren't. The problem is that the quality varies so widely across their system. But some people would have said the same about DRI as well.

I would place Bluegreen under the name IDC or "I Don't Care." Won't buy Max and certainly won't buy Future Max.

Hyatt or Four Seasons? Now maybe there's interest.

New retail purchases will include Hilton Vacations "MINI", to pair with HVC "MAX".

I just stayed at Bluegreen in Las Vegas, and was not impressed. This chart is accurate, definitely behind Wyndham and DRI. The parking lot was 90% empty right before a busy weekend, and according to the opening group presentation (the slimiest I've seen), Bluegreen owners are out cruising with their points, and don't tend to stay at their resorts.

Sure it's slimy. When I hear the phrase "Blue Green," I think of algae. I think the analogy may be fitting here.

Cheers.

more credible

Well, it appears from the book of faces that salesweasles now know abt the pending merger. Wonder if they learned from this thread?

Bluegreen has Big Cedar Lodge in Branson, MO. That might be the only resort of interest to HGVC owners in the Bluegreen world of resorts. The only Bluegreen resort we’ve stayed at was Falls Village in Branson. It was adequate and was along the lines of quality with DRI (we once owned DRI).

Bluegreen certainly doesn’t do anything for me with the exception of Big Cedar, and that’s because we are within driving distance. It especially does nothing for us if they keep the idiotic 6 month MAX booking window.

Bluegreen does also have one of the Streamside buildings in Vail now too. Maybe not luxurious or on par with HGVC's ski properties, but it may still interest some on location alone. They have a location in Aspen. Also the Club at Big Bear Village is pretty nice, and they are in the middle of construction for new buildings there. Their other locations aren't particularly appealing to me, but for HGVC owners I think one positive is many of their locations fill geographical gaps in the HGVC footprint.

*note - I am no longer a Bluegreen owner and odds are low that I will find occasion to stay at one of their properties again, mostly due to having so many other options via Vistana/MVC/II and not enough vacation time.

Doesn't Bluegreen own Manhattan Club? IMO HGVC has so many NYC properties that one more won't matter.

BTW...this sales rep and his/her manager as employees of HGVC could be accused of spreading insider information if this OPs claims are is true...Martha Stewart served jail time for this.

I would be interested in the St. Pete Beach resort, but that's because of location.

MS looks pretty good for an octogenarian.
With enuff décor, anything can look good.

Maybe they would roll some of the lower end DRI locations into Bluegreen?

Has there been any business news about this possible deal or even that Bluegreen is looking to sell itself? Personally i am doubtful of this merger. I don't see that it does that much for HGV. They had wanted Diamond as way to develop and market a Trust based product quickly, as well the lower entry cost product.

I think now adding Bluegreen would just complicate their brand position and messaging.

The only thing they care about is money. If Bluegreen can make HGV money, they will do it, if they can. The salesman can than beat their chest about all the locations available to Max members, further driving more sales. They can also take the Bluegreen members and upsell them into HVC/DRI and than even further into HGVC. The longer the path, the more money they make. Complicate messaging? That would be a feature, not a bug to the salesman. They already use complicated messaging to make sales. Lets make it even more complicated so they can confuse potential clients and make that sale.

Its true that HGV and all companies are out to make money, that is the goal of any company.

A certain level of complexity and confusion can be helpful to sales, but if it rises too high it will be become a barrier to sales, and can increase the dissatisfaction level with owners. Most companies and Timeshare companies in particular want repeat buyers. If people get too unhappy they won't purchase.

I feel that ship has already sailed here.

I wish they would purchase Raintree personally. I agree that Blue green would not add much value.

You know the salespeople get their ideas from TUG....
No way dioxide45. Timeshare salespeople are afraid of the TUG website where true ”Knowledge is Power,” and not lies to make a sale. IMHO

The crime would be attempting to profit from trading based on insider information.

My frustration with HGVC is them using sales weasels to put out information (sometimes untrue and usually misleading) that should either be sent out by their communications staff or a public membership update.

Rolling it out the way they do is not a crime, just poor customer care.

Caveat: The sales reps “releasing/leaking” info is not a crime. But if they are intentionally putting misrepresentations out to customers in a way that causes misinformed purchases and it can actually be proven (high burden of proof) they may have some legal exposure.
