There have been many rumors about Hilton Hotels acquiring either Hyatt or IHG. Apparently IHG has been very busy either looking to acquire another hotel chain (Accor) or being acquired by a larger chain. Hilton has said they want to get bigger internally and not buying out other chains. The thing is they are in a great position to grow by buying out other brands. I understand that the timeshare divisions do not come with the hotel chain (Hyatt is owned by MVC) but if Hyatt is owned by Hilton, it would be easier to merge. If Hilton Hotels does acquire other brands, I can see HGVC bringing in others as well. I'm sure MVC would love to get rid of Hyatt. Was your source more credible, less credible, or about the same amount of credibility as a salespersons lips moving?
I don't think (most of) it would go that well with HGVC, but it would fit right in with the significant variance in HVC properties. Is HGV Double Max in the offering now?
Or at least all of us on the secondary market. Then again, more sales from the developer makes for a better system for all of us!
Not that it matters anyway. I'm sure Max membership would be needed to book and that would be at 6 months. Then again, more sales from the developer makes for a better system for all of us!
Then you'll have to buy the "Ultra Max" membership, Max won't cut it for the next acquisition.
I tend to agree with you, but DRI wasn't really a good fit either. Some of the former DRI resorts will never be up to Hilton standards and will be spun off. I can see HGV bringing in Bluegreen and taking the best of the resorts and combining the leftovers with the DRI leftovers and either selling them off or running a low cost system as entry level purchase with no Hilton branding. HGV LOVES the upgrade and base much of their sales techniques to selling poor purchases into larger ones. Sell victims . . . errrrr . . . customers those deeds and then upsell them into a larger purchase. Are Bluegreen properties at a level that they could put the Hilton brand on the resorts? At least without significant costs? I don't think Bluegreen is really a good fit for Hilton. I do think there is certainly more consolidation to come and I could see a Bluegreen/Westgate merger at some point down the road. Perhaps something also happening with Spinnaker and Capital Vacations. THis is all just speculation on my part.
This will then require another purchase in Max+ in order to get access to these lower-quality resorts at 6-month mark.I've heard that HGVC is looking to purchase Bluegreen.
I think the brand name "Supermax" would have more cachet. This will then require another purchase in Max+ in order to get access to these lower-quality resorts at 6-month mark.
Maxxx?I think the brand name "Supermax" would have more cachet.

It was the shuttle driver, wasn't it? I say this in jest because several good rumors have some from shuttle drivers and even WDW bus drivers...more credible
You didn't seem so sure of a Raintree deal back in 2012?A bit of history. Before the real estate crash Circa 2008, diamond had entered into purchase agreements with both blue green and Raintree the deals were signed Inked and ready to go. Then the real estate collapse occurred, and diamonds lenders retracted the bridge funding. After that the Acquisitions of both blue green and a rain tree by diamond collapsed.
My dates might be off a bit, but there was definitely a deal between Diamond and Raintree, which was scuttled when lenders cancelled financing before the deal closed. The Blue Green deal was going on at the same time, and was running about 60 days ahead of the Raintree deal.) Diamond negotiated an extension (90 days, IIRC) to find alternate financing, but when they couldn't line up alternate financing the acquisition collapsed. You didn't seem so sure of a Raintree deal back in 2012?
That thread is about the only thing that a Google search turned up regarding Diamond and Raintree. I would think that if they were signed deals, it would have been public but neither were public companies at the time. There was a letter of intent signed with regard to Diamond and Bluegreen to negotiate but It seems that Bluegreen ultimately turned down any specific offers, though that was in 2012. I do suspect the financial crisis did kill any chance of a Diamond/Bluegreen deal that could have come from those negotiations.Raintree being bought by Diamond?
A fellow owner at Raintree reports that she went to a timeshare presentation at Diamond resorts and was told by the saleperson the Diamond was buying Raintree. Anyone else heard this rumor?tugbbs.com
Of course, this is still all in testing, so more of a BetaMax.I think the brand name "Supermax" would have more cachet.
