My question is this:
Is the HGVC 10 year plan worth it?
Reason: they offered it to us for 10K At 5k points.
They said the maintenance fees would be waived.
They said there are a lot more opportunities for rooms and locations are a lot more due to the merger they had.
They said booking within a week shouldn’t be an issue if you are not picky about specific locations or peak travel times.

I feel like we missed a good opportunity, but I want to make sure if we are offered this again if it would have been a good deal.

Thank you

HGVC have permanent deeds, except some affiliates with RTUs. DRI/Hilton Vacation Club have the 10 year trust options. I would post this question to the DRI forum.

It depends on if you can divorce yourself from the idea that it’s some money making investment/“i could rent out the points if I don’t use them” ideology and really use it for its purpose: vacationing. Then, deciding if you do enough vacationing to save more than what you would through flat out buying vacations without HGVC.

Most do not look at it as money making. If you buy retail, you lose 90% of your money. Most buy them for use, not renting out. Could you buy resale and then rent out your homeweek and make some money, sure. But most buy it for use but occasionally rent out their homeweek when they can't use it.

I guess that I didn't answer the rest of your questions. Maintenance fees are every year and DRI/HVC typically have high MFs, if you buy into the HVC 10 year trust, then you get the left overs in HGVC at 6 months are earlier. Can you find availability? Probably, but you better be very flexible. I don't know the availability in DRI/HVC so I can't answer that.

I have never heard if whatever you were offered, Something doesn't seem right to me because HGVC doesn't have anything like this. Glad that you didn't buy it.

You didn't miss anything. You dodged a bullet. ;)
The sales team will lie in order to make a sale. It's best to learn fact vs fiction on TUG before you head back to visit the land of make believe .

That's easy:

Fact: Tug
Fiction: Salesweasels

Any other questions? :D

Cheers.

I think I’m confused I think they actually offered Hilton vacation club not grand vacations. I’m not sure why because we stayed at grand vacations. I do know resale market for purchasing timeshares is better but them saying they would waive maintenance fees really attracted that to us and that it was not permanent and only a 10 year commitment. I came here to tug before we went so I knew I was going to say no to them but I was close to saying yes due to what they said.

They are all pitching trust points right now because there is significant unsold inventory according to their latest investor presentation

Fact check everything.
What they say means nothing if it's not written in your contract.

They will twist the truth and flat out lie to make a deal. HGVC is a great system, but the sales department is deplorable.

I'm an HGVC owner that stayed in Orlando at a not-even-yet-rebranded Diamond Resort. They offered an owner's update 3 miles away at HGVC Tuscany. At HGVC Tuscany they tried to sell us Diamond Trust western/Hawaii points. We live in North Carolina. I assume because we have an upcoming reservation in Hawaii, they thought we'd be worth a shot.
Nonetheless, we are HGVC owners and they offered us Diamond Western Trust Points.

yep....I have heard so many people say the same thing....they are pushing them hard.

It is a Diamond product, not HGVC. This post probably isn't in the correct forum.

ETA: It looks like this was double posted between both forums.

I am not sure from what you explained what the offer was. You get 5000 points for 10 years? For What cost $10K? Maintenance fees are waived so there are no maintenance fees? You would be able to use the points anywhere in the HGVC or HVC systems? I believe that the statement if you are NOT PICKY about location and travel times is true. I know I want to be able to go where I want when I want so while that is true it is not relevant.

Use this thread to respond, because the product offers appears to be HVC.
