As with others, I would say that your experience was an anomaly. I would urge you to give it another try. And to recognize that a few dead fish might not be unusual for any beach. I have lived on the US West Coast since 1973, and finding a few dead fish on the shore is not all unusual.
Even if all environmental toxins and pollutants were eliminated, 100% of fish will still die at some time, and some of their carcasses will make it to shore. So, even in an ideal world one should still expect to encounter occasional fish carcasses.
