Hersheypark's opening involves masks, higher security and temperature checks

By Kim Strong / News / York Daily Record / July 10, 2020

Coronavirus requirements at Hersheypark

“The thinner-than-usual crowds made the enforcement much easier, but so did all of the trappings of amusing oneself in a park all day during a pandemic:
  • A security person greets visitors with a non-contact temperature reader before entering the park. No one is admitted with a temperature of 100.3 or higher.
  • A new security process sends each visitor through a metal detector and scanner, which provides a glimpse inside purses and bags. Previously, bags were scanned by hand.
  • Masks are required for all visitors over the age of 2, and ride attendants remind people to pull up their masks if they're low.
  • Masks aren't required on water rides.
  • Social distancing markers on the ground throughout the park provide 6-foot measurements to maintain space....”

I'll be going to Hershey, (Suites @ Hershey Bluegreen resort), next Friday. I called the resort, and their indoor & outdoor pools are open; as well as their workout room. We won't be visiting Hershey Park. Looking for other activities we can do. Suggestions? (I know there is a car museum nearby, and Troeg's brewery is right next door :))

ZooAmerica is a nice smallish zoo, and Hershey Gardens is a botanical garden that's supposed to be very nice. If you like big outdoor markets, ask at the front desk for a schedule and maps--there are a couple of huge markets about 40 minutes away, in different directions, on different days.

We went last summer, mid June. We went to the auto-museum - my husband loved and spent about 4 hours in there! (me and the kiddo were done after 1, ha ha). We went took a quick road trip to a large farmers market (anything from socks, to veggies to scrapple). There was a mini golf, batting cage, go kart place a short drive away that DD had alot of fun at. My husband also went to the state police museum (we sent him alone for that one). Right across the street is a small outlet mall. If you know any little ones into American girl dolls the only AG outlet store is located there and has some good deals. The Disney store also had alot of discounted items.

I recall the resort giving me about 5 pages of "things to do" in the area. I'm sure you will find plenty.
