I'm interested in Raintree/Club Regina Puerto Vallarta. The maintenance fee seems high compared to other Mexico resorts but I really love this resort.

OR

Pueblo Bonito EB (toured the resort before it was completed but have never stayed here)

I've searched tug but I'm having a difficult time finding membership information. I want to learn all I can before buying.

What is the process to reserve the week?

If I purchase a 2 bedroom lockoff can I stay for 2 weeks (1 in the 1 bedroom & 1 in the studio?) There's only two of us but would this maximize the MF?

If an EOY membership is purchased can 1 week be banked in order to spend 2 weeks every 4 years. I'd prefer 2-4 weeks every 4 years rather than 1 week per year (less airfare).

I'd appreciate info from owners at either resort- or leads on where to research.

Speaking as to Raintree:
What is the process to reserve the week?
You call up and reserve a room, in much the same way that you would reserve a hotel room. The whole system is denominated in points, so if a room is available and you have the points in your account you can make the reservation. The first reservation each year is free; thereafter there is a fee for additional reservations - I believe the fee is $29.

If I purchase a 2 bedroom lockoff can I stay for 2 weeks (1 in the 1 bedroom & 1 in the studio?) There's only two of us but would this maximize the MF?
Yes - that is a very effective way to maximize usage for the maintenance fee. That is why I generally recommend that people not purchase anything less than a platinum level ownership.

If you have the points to reserve a one-bedroom and a studio unit/hotel room in successive weeks during peak season (peak season does not include Christmas, New Years, or the Holy Weeks) you have at least a platinum membership. If you make that reservation on the cusp between peak season and off-season - so that one of the weeks falls into peak season and one of the weeks falls into off-season - you can spend both weeks in a one-bedroom unit for the same points as the one bedroom + studio in peak season.

If an EOY membership is purchased can 1 week be banked in order to spend 2 weeks every 4 years. I'd prefer 2-4 weeks every 4 years rather than 1 week per year (less airfare).
I don't know anything about how EOY works with Raintree. Other owners will have to contribute on that.

I think there is an advantage to purchasing Raintree Club Regina in that Raintree has multiple resorts in many fine locations. Some of them, like the Franz Klammer Lodge in Telluride are among the highest rated resorts in TUG Reviews. Some may not be as good. You may wish to check out this website.

Any tips on where to research these memberships?

I've been looking at timeshares on ebay (about a year) and I'm really interested in Mexico. This would be my 1st ebay timeshare purchase and my first Mexico TS.

I'm trying to find out all I can to make an informed decision before I take the plunge. Where do I look to find all the ins & outs (the nitty gritty details?)

I've tried searching on the following sites (tug, google, resort websites). We've toured the resorts years ago (but I don't believe most of what is said in a TS tour). Am I over thinking this-should I just pick a resort I love and not fret the membership details?

I have several timeshares I use for trading-and I'm tired of using exchange companies.

I'd love to have a timeshare I actually want to go to-but if I don't think either Raintree or Pueblo Bonita memberships are a good match I'll hold out for Worldmark credits.

I own a whiskijack 2 bedroom unit (emerald) in RVC. I have been to PV thru RVC twice and Cancun once. The trips were in January and February. We were able to get 2 consecutive weeks of 2 br unit in PV and Cancun for our 1 week in wj. We made one phone call about 10 months in advance for these trips.

I write this only to point out that you don't have to necessarily own a Mexico unit to enjoy the Club Regina.

My sister and I love the PB Sunset in Cabo. You can find several for sale on Redweek.com.
