Help (really) needed!

We are in the process of doing our research to purchase a resale having been of one the lucky ones who signed on the doted line (s) then were able to get out in time. We are totally novice but went to a presentation at the Sedona Summit and really fell for it...just about paid $ 15,000 for 5,000 points with Diamond.
It's so confusing figuring out what way to go and who to buy from in terms of Marriott, Hyatt, etc. etc.... and we were narrowing it down to the Wyndham points, however there was a post here saying that Wyndham is charging extra fees for resales...can anyone expand on that?
I know the scope of this question and I will continue to read and read some more, but there sure are some tempting deals out there.

To be honest, although this is a great site, I'm finding all the abbreviations confusing...I guess it will come together some day!

I own retail and resale Wyndham points. There are no extra fees on Wyndham points. I think you will find Wyndham points resale one of the best values in TS. Low price, great locations, and very flexible points.

there is always a resort transfer fee. It is around $100 per contract. They just adjust the fee to $125.

Wyndham recently annouced a whole bunch of fee increases for the TS system. Most of those fees are fee increases for both retail & resale buyers. But there are a few which might hit resale buyer more than retail buyers.

BUT since the sale price of resale is 5% of the retail price (at least 95% discount off direct prices) , IMHO, those small fee increases would take a lifetime to add up to any reason to buy retail ( direct from Wyndham)

If you want Diamond, you can buy part of the 19 resorts which make up the US collection (AKA the florida trust) and go to any of those 19 DRI resorts. ( You do not get full DRI "club" membership if you buy resale) Caution, You must buy points in the trust and not just a week at one of the resorts in the trust.
