I bought a UVC Gold Holiday week (51-52) several years ago, and have always booked a Cabo week 52 as a trader in II. We've had great exchanges into the Westin and Marriott Hawaiian resorts (non-flexchange).

Last week, I made two reservations for New Year's in Cabo for 2013 (using 2011 and 2012 weeks), and tried to deposit the weeks in II. I had to call UVC back to make the deposit, because the II deposit calendar doesn't go out to Dec 2013. When I called UVC, they said they would deposit them in II, no problems. The agent called back a couple of hours later and said I would have to cancel the reservations (and pay $70 for one of the cancellations) and UVC would deposit generic 2012 weeks in II for me. "What?!?!" I just want to deposit the high value weeks that I booked - in my fixed Gold Holiday period.

I was told this is the new policy as of last year. They will deposit any week they have lying around. Ugh! If your deposit is a generic UVC week, what sort of trading power does it have in Interval?

1) I'm not familiar with this new policy either. I'd call again and push back. UVC published a new Bylaws document last October. You can find it on their site at http://www.myuvc.com/Default.aspx?p=DynamicModule&pageid=241792&ssid=96504&vnf=1
I'd ask them to show me the policy in the "brand new" bylaws and/or to see some other written evidence of the policy. I believe you have the right to exchange the week you reserved. Especially if you are using your primary use week. I know that when you exchange your "gold" (bonus) week then they have the right to reserve any off time week they want to. But in this case you are using your primary week. As I'm sure you know, the quality of the customer service reps vary greatly.

2) We've exchanged our "gold" (bonus) week twice and gotten nice exchanges. The weeks seem to trade well. I've never looked for Hawaii so can't give you much feedback on that.

Good luck.

Thank you for the link, bbb. It seems that the deposit should be restricted to the type of unit, week, and membership we have. It should be a holiday week. I'll call and talk with another agent. I'm still curious why I can't deposit a 2013 week reservation, if that's the reservation I've booked? Why, oh why, do they have to make things so complicated?!?!

From the UVC Oct 2011 amended rules and regulations:

All external exchange requests shall be processed through the Club. Following verification that the Member is in good standing, the Club will forward the Member’s exchange request to the Exchange Company for processing. A Member’s participation in the Exchange Program is governed by the terms and conditions of the Exchange Program and the Governing Documents. All exchanges are limited to a Member’s time and/or Club Points for the interval in question and will be designated by the Member’s Membership, Season and Unit Type.
