Tuggers - desperately need an expert to sort this out
We received an email from CarRentals.com showing a company both at Fort Lauderdale and Miami airports called Carl's. Their rates for two week economy rental in February 2009 (incl. taxes) were FLL $596 and MIA$884.
1. Any Tugger ever use eithe CarRentals.com or Carl's rental cars?
2. Is Carl's rental counter at each of the two airports? Anything fishy with this company?
We have an unusual situation.
We originally had frequent flyer flights LAX to FLL confirmed and American Airlines discontinued non-stop FLL. We changed to non-stop lax/MIA but we had originally had one night hotel reservations near FLL airport with Marriott points, so we kept that.
We also kept the original car reservation with National ($377 incl fees) for the two week rental at FLL -- are we crazy doing that???? We will have to catch a shuttle from MIA to FLL, then rent the car, then go to the Marriott at FLL airport for a night -- then drive to Marathon, Florida for a week and then on to Key West.Return to home -- reverse same thing including staying in hotel overnight.
Summary: The National car rental two weeks seems cheap ($377), the hotel both nights is on points, but the drag is having to take the airport shuttle from Miami to Fort Lauderdale and then rent the car -- and doing the same when we go home. Your comments/advice? O
