Help Needed XP Security 2012

it is so annoying. I've had it twice in the last year.

It is easier if you already have some anti-spyware installed and takes longer if you need to install.

I use spybot and Malwarebytes and MS Essentials (all free). I think Malewarebytes works the best but I run the other 2 occasionally too. Try logging on in Safemode with networking (if you need to download programs) or regular safemode with administrator rights. Run the scans. Get rid of the trojans and restart your computer and run the scans again. I think the first time I had to go in and restart with an earlier saved version. It takes 3-4 hours or more to get the downloading done and do the scans. It still took over an hour the second time.

Good luck.

You need to start by turning off system Restore (it hides in there) then run Smitfraudfix - then Malwarebytes, SpyBot Search & Destroy - I usully run ccCleaner and Glary Utilities to clean up the registry but they are absolutely needed. It is a bear to get rid of - good luck!

What is your opinion of McAfee Virus Removal Service for $89.95

Remote: You can sit back and relax while the complete service
is delivered remotely via an Internet connection to your home.

Not good. Prefer the free Avast! or the paid versions of Trend Micro Internet Security or Bitdefender . Also avoid Norton & Computer Associates (CA).

After you do the cleanup, while still in safe mode, you may be able to shut off system restore prior to rebooting into regular Windows.

\Yes - but only if you completely wipe the disk with a delete partition & recreate & format. Even a simple format only may not remove it.
