We spent a month there last year. Next year we are planning to be there again for a month in the summer. This summer we are going to Marina Dunes, i.e. Monterey area.
When in the Monterey area, try the Fish Wife Restaurant near Pebble Beach (if you haven't already). Also, Phil's Fish Market is still awesome even if it moved to Castroville.

Also, one of our favorite Worldmark resorts is in Pismo Beach. Our next favorite is only a fifteen minute drive, Marina Dunes.

Wllbg-the 3 weekends before Christmas are Grand Illumination with many festive decorations and activities-with spectacular fireworks display. You can easily get an II/Rci getaway, etc. We went last year Dec 15-22 and just stayed the weekend. It was great. Also went to Christmas Towne at BG. I will note that weather can be iffy that time of year.

I love exchanging and I love searching for great exchanges. But I feel like I am in a rut. I always tend to focus on Hawaii, Tahoe, Sedona, Cabo. These are places that I know and love. I am looking for some new places to visit. We either like places close enough to good places to hike, or alternatively, places in a fun city. We are busy vacationers - I just don't love sitting around a pool. I try but I get too antsy. What are your favorites that don't get a lot of buzz on TUG? I need some new ideas. I am interested in any location.

My personal favorites, in case someone else is looking for some fresh ideas: Hawaii - Hanalei Bay Resort. The views are amazing from the 2 bedroom units and the resort is (imo) just the right size. Tahoe: Like others, I really like the Hyatt in Incline Village and Northstar in Truckee. Hiking galore. Sedona - I am not fussy here. We haven't stayed any place that I didn't like, but honestly we are really just using the unit as a place to sleep because we are out and about all day because the hiking is *that* good. Boston - Custom House - to me this was the perfect spot in the perfect city with perfect activities. It was one of my all time favorites. In San Diego, the respective locations of Carlsbad Inn and Coronado Beach Resort are excellent - you are walking distance to the beach and restaurants, plus there are a lot of things to do in San Diego county.

I am interested in hearing about your favorites. :)
@klpca ,

My favorites are as follows:

  1. Vanderbilt Beach and Harbor Club - Naples, Florida ( units on the Gulf Side on on Vanderbilt Beach, units on the bay side, still have access to Vanderbilt beach & two swimming pools for each side - Nice state park down the street - units have been updated with new furniture, drapes, and bath reno - in unit washer & dryer)
  2. Pinestead Reef, Traverse City, Michigan ( All units are waterfront suites with a spectacular view of East Grand Traverse Bay, and it is located on 700' of sandy beach. -- Water sport rental nearby )
  3. Marriott Canyon Villas at Desert Ridge - Phoenix, AZ ( Really nice resort, 2-bedroom unit is decent sized and well equipped. The balcony is very big, complete with a table and 4 chairs. The pool area had a lot of seating. There was a snack bar, water machine, and a pool equipment storage chest (ball for the net, noodles, etc) at the pool area. Tons of daily activities )

Atlantic City timeshares. There's great bird sanctuary a short drive back to mainland, or drive South to Cape May (not just beach, but the ferry, historic houses and historic sites - lighthouses, etc), there's a historic lighthouse right in Atlantic city with some cool events and history. Jersey also has historical villages that have been restored to walk through. New Jersey has history going back to the 1600s, so always fun places to tour if you like history! Of course, you've go all the beach time, surf fishing, fishing boats and casinos there, too. Plane rides. Lot's of surprising things. And only an hour or so from Philadelphia airport!
