1) Is there a vacation destination you wish to visit most of the time or on a regular basis? if so where? Anywhere tropical. I've been to Puerto Rico before and plan to go back.

2) Do you want to visit your home resort at least half the time, or do you want to trade more than half the time?
I would want to trade more than half the time.
3) What are your 5 top trade destinations?
For this year.
Myrtle Beach
Puerto Rico or Virgin Islands
Orlando
St. Louis
Las Vegas
4) How many people do you usually travel with - total, including yourself?
6
5) Can you travel any time, or are you locked into the school schedule?
School Schedule
6) Can you make firm plans 12 or more mos. in advance? Yes

7) Can you vacation for a full week at a time?
Yes but I plan on 3 full weeks of vacation per year and may 4 or 5 weekend tickets
8) What level of accommodations do you prefer on a scale of 1 to 5 stars?
At least 3 stars
9) How much can you afford to spend upfront, without financing?
2000
10) How much can you afford to spend every year for a maintenance fee that will come due right after Christmas, and increase each year? I want to stay around 2000 but if I can vacation for 3 weeks I'm willing to pay up to 2500. I also wanted to try to get an every other year contract with more points than I would need so I could do two high demand weeks one during spring break and one during winter break every year. I'm awareI might have to pay 3k in maintenance fees for more points.

11) Are you a detail oriented planner?
Yes
12) Do you understand that once you buy a timeshare, it may be very difficult to sell or give away, and you are responsible for all fees, until you do?Yes

$2,500 in total maintenance fees is not enough, for 2-3 weeks of vacation, plus 3-4 weekend stays, in a 2-Bdm. (with 6, you need a 2 bdm.)

Also - The school holidays have the highest demand and are the hardest to reserve. To have any chance of getting them, you have to try to reserve them as early as the timeshare system allows.

The points owners will probably post some points suggestions for you - not my thing.

The only way you're getting 3 weeks on $2,500 in a 2BR is if you put 1 week in a good system, and then somehow grab at least one super cheap getaway, probably 2, like RCI Last Call cheap for the other weeks, and you're planning on those weeks being in Orlando, Branson, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Williamsburg and not being the top locations. What I mean is you could probably get a decent MF plus exchange for right around $1,500, and 2 Last Calls for about $500 each. But I wouldn't count on it necessarily. Especially with school schedule.

Thank you this is great advice.

Don't give up to easily. Just look away from a point system. Magic Tree in Orlando has floating weeks. MF's on a 2bd are $625. They don't care what trading company you use or how many you belong to. I find plenty of vacations using trading company's. If i can't find what i am looking for i might trade 1 of my 3 weeks to get there. Not saying it will trade everywhere just saying i have gone to places i didn't see in the trading company's. I think this is a good starting place for newbie's. Plenty of vacation for little money. The best place to buy these are through Magic Tree themselves. Just call the resort. 1Bd's are free but 2Bd's cost around 1K. They also do a quick deed so little cost there. It is about a mile from the Disney's entrance on rt192. While it is a hotel conversion it is a gold crown resort and very clean and all amenities are free. My point is find an independent resort such as this one and start there. You can always add a point system down the road for shorter stays or places that are harder to get to but most certainly at a higher cost. Christmas in a 2Bd gold crown resort for $625. What's not to like.
