My mother did this. Yes, marble top. It is SOOOO handy. We aren't tall women, it is definitely helpful to be able to push down into dough.

She's also shorter, so while it might be too low for an average man, the wife is the one who does the baking. She basically shoved her husband out of the room when they were meeting with the kitchen designer. She said, "Now, here's what I want..." She got it. :)

Don't forget the Double Wall Ovens. Height of Counter Tops and sinks. Patti is 5'7". I am 6'. We find almost all standard Counter Tops and Sinks too low. When we build our own Kitchen it will have Cabinets built to the Ceiling.

A relative bought a house...the original owners who had the house built were a very tall husband and wife... she was 6’2” IIRC. All the lower cabinets in the kitchen were 42” high. It was quite comical as the person who bought the house is only 5’1”. We could barely touch the first shelf on the upper cabinets and climbing onto the barstool that sat with the raised portion of the counter was an adventure. You would have loved it!

(The new owner had everything torn out and/or cut down).
