Help! How do I unload my time share at Westin?

(1) Per SVO/SVN CCRs-Owners Manual - only HomeResort weeks can be rented.
(2) This thread should be in the SVO Forum.
1. That sucks. But, I assume that if the OP makes a Hawaii or Cancun Reservation thru II (forget St John) into a Westin or Marriott (Hawaii), then it would be allowed with a Guest Certificate?
2. I agree.

BTW. I don't think anybody asked the OP if they own the TS free-and-clear. If the OP doesn't, their stuck with it.

I do not think II exchanges are allowed to be rented either - that is how the whole discussion of not renting StarOptions (non-HomeResort) came up in 1st place. IMO - doesn't suck - as an owner of these SVO resorts. There was quite a discussion on the Starwood Forum about this topic. SVO/SVN now informs folks (inconsistently) that this is not allowed. They seem to be enforcing it - or trying to...

Was the company you had "sellmytimesharesnow ?? " We have been talking to them and don't know what to do. They want over $980 for marketing.

REPUTABLE brokers do not charge an upfront fee.

Look at it this way, if you pay them upfront, why do they care if your timeshares sells or not?

Here is a short list of reputable brokers who are Tuggers. I suggest you contact all of them for a review of your property. Be aware that the majority of timeshares have no resale value, and you may find that you have to give it away.

If you pay an upfront fee....you are being taken for a ride. It doesn't matter whether the company is honest, respected, or even partially effective.

If they are asking for money up-front, they are preying upon your desire to rid yourself of the timeshare quickly.

You can sell, rent, give, ebay or ???? the timeshare yourself much cheaper without them. Get honest advice here.....and DO NOT PAY any money upfront!

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply, but I am so frustrated with this timeshare and the entire time share industry that I just want to get rid of it. Purchasing this thing has been the biggest financial mistake of my life.

Every time I pay the maintenance fees, I get irritated; I just can't help it.

Bill

Bill, I respect your feelings and we can all sympathize with your remorse.

But: this is a financial decision that should be made with a clear, calm head and without emotion. Listen to the advice you've been given. What you have is a great timeshare with benefits that can't be had cheaply or easily on resale. If you're upset now, think how you will feel after you pay to dispose of the timeshare and later realize what you've lost.

Even if your decision is to sell/give away, at least make the decision from a calm and well-thought moment. If you'll ask and accept the advise from the members here, you may find a solution which is more palatable and works for you and/or your family.

Good luck.

PS. I congratulate you for having the courage to come here, ask advice and speak your mind. Getting the information and making a smart decision for your and your family--for the future--is what's important.
Cheers.

I talked to that company, and they wanted $1300 up front! Tried to talk me into listing my week for $5000 , when I already had seen the same units being given away or listed for $99 elsewhere. So I just listed it on the Bargain Board here for $1 and found a taker immediately. Saved me $1300, is the way I look at it.

Fantastic! :clap:I hope I have the same luck when the time comes to dispose of mine!
