Help getting rid of Westgate timeshare

We spoke to a company that “promised”...to constantly contact Westgate on the timeshare owner’s behalf until they give in and let them out.....If that Is their business model and according to them it works, my parents can do the same approach.

Bingo! That's why many here on TUG advise people to not use any of these cancel/relief/exit companies.

My parents have a 4 bedroom at Westgate Town Center. They do not owe anything, just the bi-annual maintenance fee. We have it listed on Redweek for sale, but no interest. At this point, we need to get rid of the timeshare. My father has Parkinson’s and they can’t travel anymore. The third time Westgate talked my parents into adding to the timeshare, they were also encouraged to add myself and sister to the deed as owners. We have no interest in the timeshare. Suggestions on getting rid of it would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: Thanks for everyone advice! We listed my parents Westgate timeshare on Redweek bargain section and found a buyer. When the process went forward to Westgate to approve, they exercised their first right of refusal and “bought”, more like took back the timeshare to resell. Although my parents didn’t get any money for their timeshare, they are at least not burden with it anymore. Thanks again!!!

Congrats and well done.

Fascinating that Wastegate wouldn't take it from you for free, put you to the trouble of trying to sell it, and then RORF'ed it.

@TUGBrian this was an interesting story. Despite TS being paid off, Westgate refused to accept via deedback. Westgate convinced TS owners' children to put their names on the deed. Eventually, TS owners' children found a buyer, and Westgate exercised ROFR. Might be newsletter-worthy.

This was surprising that Westgate put you "through the ringer" but ended up taking it back during the ROFR process as the Four Bedroom units are huge and very desirable for some large families (they are few and far between when it comes to exchanges).

I'm glad you no longer have the maintenance liabilities and that it all worked out for you.......
