The Viking Ship may be what Equinova and some exit companies are doing. AGs are trying to shut that down because it is basically fraud, but it's tough to find all the bad actors.

Doing it yourself is a horrible idea though. It'll take all of 2 minutes to figure out who's the owner of the LLC.
My thought was that, as a LLC, your liability is limited and they wouldn't be able come after you - just close up the LLC.
But then, later, I considered the fraud angle and how you would go from a having a financial liability to a potential criminal liability.

Interesting to hear that there is a term for this "Viking Ship". I presume this is a reference to Viking funerary practice of sending the dead to sea on a burning ship.

Thats exactly it, an old TUG member wrote an article on this during the "prime time" of the viking ship/post card companys running wild across this industry...this is actually how the exit industry got started until the developers took action to curb this strategy!
