Hi,
DH and I are considering buying into HGVC in vegas, but I've never been to any of the HGVC resort there (he's been to 1).
He has a work training in vegas end of sept and we're thinking this is a good time for me to tagalong and see the resorts.
We're thinking of renting points from current member at flamingo (preferrence) or LV (not the strip). I looked at the classified but can't see any one that matches.

Could you point me in the right direction as to the best place to find rentals?

Thank you so much! :D

First, I hope that you are planning on buying resale and not from Hilton directly. You do know, of course, that paying developer prices is foolhardy.

Secondly, the problem with renting a HGVC unit from a member is that a member's points do not themselves guarantee you a reservation for any specific size unit or period of time, since booking a unit is always subject to availability and the member would have to make the reservation for you.

A pre-existing reservation would likely be one which the member has already planned to use for himself or family, and if they changed their mind, would usually cancel to conserve their points.

Thus, you are left with finding a member who is willing to use his or her points to make one and then obtain a guest-pass for you. Any HGVC member could do this for you... if they were willing to use their points for this purpose. They would not need to own a unit in Vegas, as long as they had enuff points in their account to obtain the unit + dates you wanted.

You may be able to book a HGVC unit thru the Hilton Hotel website, but you would be paying exhorbitant hotel rates. A better bet might be to book a room at the Flamingo and arrange to tour the HGVC which is on the same property, making it clear that you are not there for a sale-pitch.

Thank you the info.
I swear we won't buy direct... :D
DH and I are stickler to finding good deals (ok, I am the stickler... he just reaps the good deals  ).

I saw the direct site to HGVC and it is crazy expensive.

Thanks!
I'll keep my eyes open for the right time and maybe we'll get lucky.
