Heatrow - Gatwick

Sorry I did not see you were going to Gatwick. We did this last year and took the National Express Coach direct from Heathrow to Gatwick. It took about 1 and a half hours and was non-stop. We left from terminal 5 but I think it also leaves from 1,2,3, and 4. Curt

Heathrow - Gatwick connection

Thanks.....it looks as though this will be our only option.
We have lots of time to connect, as we arrive Heathrow @ 06:55, and depart Gatwick for Faro @ 17:40
On the return we arrive in Gatwick from Faro @ 23:55 & depart from Heathrow @ 12 noon.
Did you purchase your coach tickets in advance?
I am considering adding a couple of days in London upon our return.

Definitely get them in advance and, if you are an OAP (Old age pensioner, 60+) you get a discount. We did this very transfer a few days after I turned 60 and was delighted to find out I could get the discount. However, it was a little disconcerting that I was actually asked if I was over 60! LOL.

It sounds like you have plenty of time between flights which is good because you can never know how an accident on the M25 can delay the trip. Last summer we were 'parked' on a motorway for almost an hour because it was completely closed down for an accident.

We have decided to fly into Malaga & drive to Faro. The schedule through Heathrow is terrible. The taxes are also much higher flying into London.
I hope there won't be any problem taking a rental car from Spain into Portugal??

The borders are all open, so driving from Spain to Portugal is a non-event. I rented in Lisbon, drove all over southern Spain, and then back into Portugal at Faro and Vilamoura. My rental car company did charge me extra for some kind of official documentation to prove I had a legal right to cross the border with it. I never used it. But I suppose it was good to have in case of a traffic stop or something.

Most rental car companies require that you drop the car off in the same country that you rented, though. Some will allow trans-national dropoffs with an extra drop fee.

When we went to Spain several years ago, it was recommended that we get an international drivers license. You can get them at AAA.

We are planning on picking up & returning the rental car in Malaga.
We have had international driver's licence issued through CAA in the past.
We were told that all they are is a transalation for the country that you are going to.
