in a few weeks. The reservation on Marriott.com says we are in "The Villages". I wanted to get an idea of what building(s) we should ask for. Just adults will be going and we'd prefer to be closer to the pool(s) rather than farther away. A nice view would be good, too. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. I'm really looking forward to this trip.

Ask for buildings 1400 or 1500, they are close to the main pools (louge and slide pools), and you will have a nice view of a lake and the golf course. I was at building 1400 last month and it was great. Every mornig I got breakfast at the balcony watching the sun rise in the middle of th faraway mountains. Spetacular!

Avoid buildings near Monterey Ave, I have seen reports that they can be very noisy.

Have a great stay!

Agree with that recommendation

for buildings 1400 or 1500. They are the units in closest proximity to the main pool. They also face to the west, giving you a east facing balcony/patio which I feel is best due to the late afternoon heat. Buildings are 3 levels, with elevators, so personal perferences would determine if you would like to be ground floor or higher. I prefer the ground floor units at the Villages as they give you some access to a bit of lawn. All buildings have nice grill areas also.

The resort is a absolutely beautiful setting and is one of my favorite ownership properties. We are currently here this week but are staying at the newer Enclaves units for the first time.

As far as other things to do a couple of suggestions would be as follows:
The Tram (if available. Heard that it is closed for repair, but not sure what the timetable is).

Thursday's Villagefest street fair on Palm Canyon drive in downtown Palm Springs- just spent last night there ourselves. Suggest Las Casuelas Terrazo Mexican restaurant, patio/outside seating, and listening to the live music then enjoying the street fair and all the displays.

We also checked out Temecula Wine Country this trip. We drove ourselves about 70 miles, but tour buses are available. There are approximately 30 wineries in the area. Harvest is in season and wine tasting was available at all that we visited.

It's a great area and a really nice resort. You should have a great time!! :whoopie:

Their seminars

They have great seminars. Our very favorite is learning more about Marriott points and usage. Their onsite restaurant has tasty crab cakes. Also if you like TERRIFIC seafood, :D make a reservation at Roy's in Rancho Mirage (about a 15 min. drive). He has restaurants in Hawaii and elsewhere.

Any room/building advice for the Enclaves? We are staying there in the spring for the first time.

Any room/building advice for the Enclaves? We are staying there in the spring for the first time.

Unless there has been new construction since last January (and I don't think there has been), there are only 3 buildings to choose from: 4300, 4400, & 4500. 4400 is the largest and each balcony overlooks the Enclaves pool. Not much privacy, but you can walk right out to the pool. 4300 balconies overlook the pool. but are a tad further away, so more privacy. 4500 balconies overlook the 15th tee boxes of the golf course. Privacy, but some street noises from Frank Sinatra Dr. 4300 has no mountain views. Most of 4500 & 4400 have mountain views.

Cheers!

Information on Enclaves

Any room/building advice for the Enclaves? We are staying there in the spring for the first time.

We are staying in unit 4329. It is right in the center of the building on the second floor. Great view of the pool, east facing balcony and we do have a view of the mtns. to the right.

We got the 1400 building which is perfect, so thanks to Idanna and gwhamm for the recommendation. The weather was great today but rain looks likely for the next two days. I'm very impresed with the resort and am enjoying it immensely.

Nick,

I noticed you own Starwood. How did Shadow Ridge compare to some of the Starwood properties you have stayed at?
