I think it was back in 2006, we were visiting in Hawaii and a timeshare sales rep told us (I do generally know what it means when their lips are moving), that Hawaii is fed up with all the Japanese people buying up their land and require anyone buying Hawaiian real estate to be physically present in Hawaii to sign the contract.
I suspect they were using that ploy to create in us an urge to "buy now" because it might be a long time before we got to Hawaii again.
I now see people buying and selling TS contracts with no mention of any such regulations. Has anyone else ever heard that line before?
