It isn't really surprising that a state that is about 40% Asian has the highest life expectancy and highest Spam consumption. It's rare to see an obese Asian and Asia consumes about 40% of all spam produced. Mystery solved, lol.

Not to mention, SPAM is filled with preservatives. In a state where they consume more SPAM than anywhere else, it sort of follows, don't you think? Eat all those preservatives, and live longer. Works for me. (Note to self: Pick up SPAM at the store tomorrow...) :D

It tastes much better than regular Spam. But not as good as some of the really good flavors of spam -- like Hickory Smoke or Jalapeno. Whenever Spam goes on sale, I buy a case of lite.

Everyone who visits cleans me out of Spam. Every time. Spam is a societal joke -- until someone has a dozen cans of it in the pantry. Then it's a quick and easy breakfast. Or sandwiches. Not one visitor has turned their nose up at Spam.

I make fun of it like everyone else, but I actually like Spam and usually have some in my pantry. I grew up with it. And I've had a number of the varieties.

Spam on a skewer with pineapple and jalapenos cooked in a smoker is pretty good. Bite sized pieces of Spam cooked in a toss away tray in the smoker with teriyaki or bbq sause is pretty good. Especially when the heat is turned up after smoking.

I'm not a fan of cooking spam or bacon in the house because of the lingering aroma.

Something I haven't seen in Hawaii is single slice SPAM. Since DW doesn't like it, I don't often make a fried SPAM and cheese sandwich. But when I do, it's easy to slide a slice into the frying pan and onto my sandwich. :whooopie:
