Hawaii could face civil unrest, rioting if coronavirus reopening doesn't happen quicker, top official says

I think the biggest thing for them isn't the opening of businesses for residents, it's just throwing the doors open to the rest of the world. That is what the concern is. Since a great portion of their economy is derived from tourism, they are going to face financial hardship for some time.

That's what I was wondering too. I was wondering if a lot of business owners whose businesses depend primarily on tourists are clamouring to lift and/or ease restrictions on tourists so as to encourage more tourists to come to Hawaii.

I was barely sick early March, and I have the immunity to the virus. It was good news, but if I can carry it to others, not so good.. So I am always careful, wear my mask, do what I need to do. Our kids are doing the same, so we can see our grandkids and have been. I have been watching our five-year-old granddaughter Raelynn a couple of times this week, while Daddy and Grandpa are painting their house's exterior. It's been such a blessing to have her around. The baby is not going to get that time with Grandma because Mommy is at home with him.
Cindy, you may have already mentioned this and I just missed it, did you have the antibody test? Most everyone I know who has had it tested negative. If you had it and tested positive it's more reassuring that the test is valid. I've decided not to take the test even though I was so sick in December. I don't think I'd do anything different even if I tested positive.

Certainly the positivity rate has come down as testing has ramped up. And certainly there were many, many positive cases that were never diagnosed (not enough testing, and didn't meet requirements for) especially during the winter.
With ramped testing prevalence is dropping to 10% or less as well-even missing those not able to get tested earlier (if the virus was indeed here last winter).
This is what is good news. We aren't going to get to 0% prevalence like a few states seem to think. Very few viruses have been 100% eradicated, and even then only after decades.

Yes, we both had the antibody test done last week with annual physicals. Our doctor was excited to give us the news. Both of us had symptoms that started on the same exact day, symptoms started six days after flying back from Maui through an overnight stop at SFO. 3/1, we both had a dry cough, kind of assumed it was because of our dry air. You know how dry the air is in NM and CO! So then I had a few days of severe back pain where my lungs are, and I was short of breath going up the stairs.

So I wondered if I had it, and Rick's symptoms were almost identical, same day of experiencing the dry cough to start, but he had chest pain. We started at practically the same hour of the day, so of course we caught it at the same exact time, apparently.

Fortunately, Rick is a person with very low heartrate, very low blood pressure, and it's because he runs and he does our elliptical 30 minutes a day (I cannot do that one at all). Anyway, by the end of the fourth day, I had no symptoms left, and neither did Rick. Strange illness. A FB friend who is also a TUG member said it was a good thing I started this diet. Losing weight may have saved me from being very sick with this illness, as I am just considered overweight now and not obese. That is what 63 pounds of weight loss will do for ya. Another 17 pounds to go. These last 17 pounds are slow to come off. So disappointing. One pound every two weeks is going to make me crazy. Following my plan religiously.

Allow me to be a cheerleader for you!! (Muscle weighs more than the fat it replaces, even walking and building leg muscles is going to cause the scale number to not budge although you are improving your health).
I'll also say I have gotten lazy with the "no routine quarantine" and you have inspired me to get back to a routine of exercise :) That dang treadmill is gathering dust again and really-there isn't an excuse for that :p

Anyone know this locale? Double props if you not only recognize the area, but can tell the location where the picture was taken.

There is a shortcut called TSA precheck :p -no need to strip, plus shorter lines.

I don't think it's Dem vs republican either-I think that is how the MEDIA wants to portray it because conflict/clickbait/outrage=$$$$$$
I have TSA Precheck, and it's fine if they put it on your ticket. I fly, in a normal year, 15 R/Ts per year so need to go through TSA 30 times. So I purchased Pre Check. Unfortunately it doesn't assure that you will get it on your ticket. Out of those 30 legs, probably 6-8 don't put it on. I couldn't get an explanation, and it can't be added once your have your boarding pass, which at most is 24 hrs in advance.

I go through TSA in PDX, MCO, ATL, LAS, PHO, CHS and occasionally others. If it has never happened to you, great. However, that wasn't the point of my post. I was writing about changes made because of 9-11, the "Shoe Bomber", and other threatened actions.

I always make sure when I make a reservation that my KTN is on it. Then, when I check in online, before I print the boarding pass, I make sure it says TSA Precheck. Once on one of dh's flights it wasn't on there. I went back in and saw that his KTN wasn't on the reservation. I was able to add it, and then when I checked him in the TSA Precheck was on there. However dd has had a couple of flights where she did not get Precheck, even though she has Global Entry. This hasn't happened in quite awhile though.

This has happened to me at LAX, and the two times it’s happened I was successful in having them update the boarding pass. Thankfully it doesn’t happen often as it does take time to deal with it, but the boarding area at AA was familiar with this issue and they were able to fix it both times. It may have helped that I carry my Global Entry card with me.

The first time the Pre check was missing I talked to agents and he called over TSA to ask about it. TSA guy said, yeah it happens and they can't change it there. Maybe they have changed their policy. Interestingly it generally happens at my home airport PDX not others. With Alaska Airlines my number is automatically entered when I buy my ticket.

My dd never had any luck with anyone at the airport being able to change her boarding pass and add the TSA precheck. TSA would send her to the airline desk and they would say they couldn't do anything. They could see her KTN in her record, but couldn't change the boarding pass. I've had friends say they have been able to get their corrected. Maybe it depends on the airport or the airline. Hers happened in Albuquerque and I think with United and SW.

Antibodies may be short lived which means herd immunity may have Been the way to go. Seems a re open earlier may have been better. I guess we will know more when the data hits. That’s just anecdotal from antibody testing of many. Some have it gone quick to the point of testing negative for antibodies
