Have Global Entry? Well,There's Some Good News And Some Bad News

It took my daughter only two months from starting her application to her interview at DTW. Not half bad. She could have gotten her interview sooner if she'd gone to the bridge crossing between Detroit and Windsor, ON.

MY experience with the interview process was less than rewarding as their schedule onsite was to take people in the order that they signed in. You didn't need an appointment to sign in, so I was seen way after my appointment time s people with no appointment got seen before me. YMMV

There is a good deal of variance. My renew came up about a year ago. After about two days, I was allowed to schedule an interview and I had about a six week wait (not short, but much shorter than for some people). My wife's renew came about a month and a half ago. No news on when she could proceed to schedule her interview for about a month. Finally, the pending notice disappeared and she was approved without any need for an interview. Her new card came a week later.

I am hoping for no interview on my renewal as well. Just because they are too busy for renewal interviews.

I submitted my renewal over two months ago and it is still “pending review”. This means I can’t even schedule an interview. I spoke with immigration at LAX a few days ago when I returned from Europe as I know they permit interviews without appointment upon return to the country... and he told me not to worry, as it would be extended due to the staff shortages, etc.

In any case, the renewal application status page now includes:

Due to a significant increase in application volume, we are extending the grace period from 6 months to 1 year for any submitted renewal application. This means you will continue to receive full benefits for 1 year while U.S. Customs and Border Protection is finalizing your renewal application.

I renewed mine a year ago and was cleared without an interview in 6 weeks so not everyone is being interviewed when they renew.

We had a very small office in the beginning in our area, years ago. I wonder is it still open.
You needed an appointment to be seen.

Renewed a year ago. No interview needed. Took 7 weeks from start to finish
