Has anyone ever had a situation where they have had to cancel the STARWOOD EXPLORER PACKAGE after the 3 day expiration time has lapsed? Its been over 6 months into the contract.

I tried to book the week for myself, and they told me my wife HAD TO ATTEND. I had to pay the balance in full, before I used the week.

#1 My wife cannot attend due to her health.
#2 I cannot afford to pay the balance, (over $1000) even if my wife could go.

From what I've read. The Starwood Explorer Package is non-refundable.

Can anybody offer any help?

Call the number and ask to speak to a supervisor. Tell them that your wife's health will prevent her from ever attending, and that you'd like a refund. Tell them that you didn't realize it was a requirement for booking.

Good luck.
